@LisaKDeam I don't think many people mean it in a prosperity Gospel sort of way. I do think it has a similarly negative effect on those who seem stuck in worldly (financial, health) struggles.
@LisaKDeam Absolutely yes! We should, of course, give God thanks in all things even when it is difficult. And so I think we that God for our blessings and difficulties. But, assuming "good things" are a blessing from God is a bit arrogant.
@gavin_adams@AndyStanley I don't think most churches have any idea what to do. It is easy to say what you would do in any situation if you haven't been faced with it.
@gavin_adams@bradchristian You can be greedy, prideful, someone who shows preference for those you think will elevate your position, selfish, lacking compassion, hoarding of your time and resources, performative and be outwardly acceptable in many churches.
@bradchristian@gavin_adams It is opposite of the inclusion called for in the New Testament. It is the opposite of the posture of Jesus. It is discriminatory to people with disabilities. I'd run screaming from your church.
@bradchristian@gavin_adams are genetically wired to be thin. People can have food allergies and sensitivities without knowing it that cause chronic health issues and inflammation. Also not having enough money can lead to appearing less healthy. It is entitled and priviledged.
@MikeHardin63 @Fair_and_Biased Honestly that makes no sense and I am not even really a complementation anymore. Everyone is different and equal in value and position before God. Also the church should treat everyone as equal in value. Doesn’t change the fact that people are different.
@MaroonedInMarin@kkdumez Fallacy of logic. You can disagree with some of her theology, as many in the church disagree with each other on some points, but this is just a ridiculous personal attack that shows no interest in responding to the actual post.
