If we want to eat more Canadian-produced foods, we should make more of it!
We have a strong agricultural sector but it's largely focused on exporting our raw ingredients. We end up exporting most of what we farm elsewhere and buying back finished products.
For seafood alone, Canada exports about 90% of what we harvest, and imports 80% of what we eat.
Let's make much more of our own foods so that we can eat more things produced in Canada!
