Vienna by @billyjoel, funky Jake remix
I can't get over how good this very different groove is by Jake, bringing new life to this already great song. At the June 2nd Death of the Fox open mic, hosted by Chuck M.
Learning piano at 2 years and 2 months: Tiny Dancer by Elton John
(IN THIS VERSION I'M *NOT* SINGING.)
I created every note you hear on the piano. This took me a full month-and-a-half.
Learning piano at 2 years and 2 months: Tiny Dancer by Elton John
(IN THIS VERSION I'M SINGING AND PLAYING.)
I created every note you hear on the piano. This took me a full month-and-a-half.
All Night Long (All Night) by @LionelRichie.
One of my favorite vocalists. This song represents a high point in his solo career, going to number one in several countries. Richard Marx is one of the backup vocalists, before his own career took off.
Weekend in New England by Barry Manilow at the weekly Death of the Fox open mic in Clarksboro, hosted by Chuck M.
I love me some sappy-ass love songs and luckily I married a very pretty lady that also likes them! The King of Sap is Barry Manilow. This is my favorite song by him.
New York State of Mind by Billy Joel, with Jake Langley on the keys, while sporting my (actual!) Pete Scavello t-shirt.
My fourth favorite song by my favorite musical artist, and the top one of those that I think show off my voice the best. Number one is β of course β Scenes.
Freefallin' by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers.
With the inimitable Chuck M., featuring me on harmonies and background vocals, Louie on the sax, and Ron on percussion. So much fun, and gets better every time!
Build Me Up Buttercup by the Foundations.
Karleigh and I opened for Wounded Souls last evening at the Verga VFW. We're promoting our second Broadway show at The Ritz Theatre in Oaklyn, on Sat, 10/24 at 2 PM. Mark your calendars!
(I love it when people dance to my singing.)
Gimme the Night by George Benson.
Even without the bridge it's a great song. With the bridge it's amazing. It'd be really ambitious, but I can picture an a cappella arrangement.
@GavinDeGraw's Not Over You.
I always knew the song but heard it fresh for the first time, more than a decade later. I was in a Wawa on the way to a gig & it struck me how exciting the groove is. I performed it for the first time an hour later, warts & all. What a great song.
I Can Go the Distance from Disney's Hercules.
The movie is just meh for me, but this song is worth the price of admission. (Even though it never really struck me as a great song until years later!) Another similar example is Out There from Hunchback.
Rest in peace, dear @DollyParton. I learned this an hour after hearing of her passing on Friday.
An amazing song written by Barry Mann and Cynthia Weil, the officemates of Carol King, as we learned in Beautiful: The Carol King Story.
I feel ya!
In November I gave a two-hour concert and not a single person showed, despite more than 100 clicking "interested" on Facebook.
I sang an hour anyway! For my wife, and my friend the event owner.
Another great pic by Katrina Stephanie Photography. From the October open mic at Red White and Brew Beer Company as run by Reseda Band. I've been going to this nearly every month this calendar year. Always a great crowd. (The next one is next Sunday! 12-3 PM on 12/17.)
