今年大选，共和党和民主党全国代表大会的最大差别：共和党的前总统、前副总统、前众议院议长、前前党主席都不凑场；民主党能走得动的前总统、前副总统、前众议院议长、前主席满堂会。看到这种反差，不需要什么政治-法律知识，有一双普通人的眼睛就可以了。共和党空前分裂，民主党空前团结，得出这种结论也不需要多少思维能力，只需要通正常人的常情常理就可以了。

我不是民主党，也不是共和党，没有党派归属，更无所谓党派忠诚，投票选举主要是看候选人个人的能力、人品，还有另一个党的对手是不是太烂；政策取向都在其次——美国两党弄来弄去弄了100多年，尤其是近半个多世纪，各自的政策取向大致稳定，为了选举推出一些标语口号式所谓政策，这里减点税，那里加点税，民主党朝三暮四，共和党朝四暮三，忽悠完了，对我没有什么影响。

而且，美国的地方政治和全国政治是两回事。地方选举中，选民不认识，更不了解大部分职位的候选人，只好按党派投票。在川普之前，得克萨斯州县的地方选举中，除了一次有民主党朋友参选，我基本是投共和党候选人。

我也不属于美国的劳工阶层，虽然认识那个阶层的一些人。民主党现在要增加的各种福利大部分跟我没有关系。但评论各党派在历史上和现实中的作为，要尊重基本事实，这是出发点。

美国普通民众现在享有的几乎所有福利：联邦退休（社安）金、最低工资标准、每周40小时工作制、退休人员医保、低收入家庭医保等，几乎都是民主党牵头立法，民主党总统签字成为法律。从小罗斯福到现在，每一次推出这些立法都步履艰难，拖着不让改革的几乎都是民主党中“保守”一方和共和党。

1970年代后，政治气候变幻，共和党不得不转向，吸引底层选民，不是靠维护他们的经济利益，而是靠激发他们的宗教热情、排外冲动和对少数族裔的恐惧。

简体字中文世界一些自称保守主义的人缺少基本历史知识，但习惯于按意识形态教条和标语口号站队，经常把常识性的东西搞反了。比如，有简体字知识分子说共和党代表底层利益。历史和现实都是，共和党忽悠底层一靠宗教，二靠种族，三靠排外，并不靠经济利益。

不幸的是，在美国民众中，越穷越信福音派，越穷越种族歧视，越穷越排外 — — 越穷越认为是少数族裔、外国人导致他们贫穷。这是美国政治中极右势力的民间土壤。正常理智的人不会相信，共和党靠忽悠这种东西能解决底层问题或维护底层的利益。

我在美国生活的二十五年，大部分是在得克萨斯，很多东西是入乡随俗，不赞同民主党的很多做法。近距离见识了某些代表得州的国会众议员和前众议员的做派以后，知道那里面充满政治混混，只要能捞钱捞选票，让他/她说什么，他/她都说，两党都有。但从全国看，毕竟两党在政策取向上有比较明显的分野。

简体字的山寨布尔什维克教育培养的是政治单层人，精神世界像一层纸。 只要在那种环境长到成年，几乎没人幸免。离开那种环境后，有人开始学习政治文明，让精神世界丰厚一些，能容纳不同层面，但这个过程并不轻松愉快，需要否定旧的自我。但也有很多人不学习，继续做政治单层人，投入美国社会的政治单层人怀抱，把极右的意识形态垃圾当学术理论宣扬。

有人也念美国正经的政治理论书，但普遍问题是搞不清一些基本观念的语境和政治修辞意义，像“州权”、“自由”、“爱国”、 “法律与秩序”、“社会主义”、“传统生活方式”、 “昂格鲁-撒克逊传统”等在美国历史和现实政治中都有作者不便说出口的含义——不是每一本书的作者都对自己和对读者诚实。

不少简体字读者把这些都读成了观念世界的政治单层词，从概念到概念，想象出一个在历史上和现实中并不真实存在的美国。第一代移民很容易保持从墙内带来的这种精神世界单层人状态，不是做政治单层人，就是做经济单层人，像一张纸，除了正面，就是反面，没有任何厚度。

政治单层人往往成为意识形态极端分子，把政治-宗教宣传品当历史，把标语口号当理论；经济单层人只为了挣钱活着，一切都围着多挣点儿转。这种状态扼杀了人性的丰富性。毁掉自己的也就罢了，有些狂热分子的目标是把别人的人性丰富性也毁掉。

正常人尽一份力，确保那些政治和经济单层人中的狂热分子失败，实际上是维护人性。让精神世界丰富一点，避免生活在自己反对的人和势力的阴影中，变成他们的阴影的一部分。
