@FlissFreeborn @wildforest_matt He visits four times a year and hasn't had the desire to identify a bird? It's not difficult. If you haven't Internet access, buy a book (or have a chat with a local... 😉)
@Chirleeee @gilmorehalifax @wildforest_matt Come to the Cotswolds (I'm not technically inside the area but it's assumed) and visit Bibury where tourists are known to wander into a person's cottage thinking it's a living museum
@AledThomas99 Bifton-Clown? For the love of everything we hold dear, NO! He's been my MP for years and his rating as the least effective MP isn't unfounded
@jessphillips Even without savings, if earnings are in that grey area between meeting threshold and being able to not worry about paying bills, there won't be spare cash to save for a deposit.
@stephenfry but the biggest challenge is working out how to open the filler cap on a new to you/hire car! I'd driven old cars for years before having a car with a button on the inside - felt a fool on the forecourt...
At the time I had 2 small children, small p/t income, had to switch to a key meter for the electric and worried about bills. Thankfully the Labour Party introduced a benefits system that made sure I could manage. At the time I was a Tory voter 😞
25 years since they won, it's de rigueur to slag off New Labour. To complain that their reforms did not last. Even to blame them for what came after. I don't subscribe. They changed lives. They offered a positive vision of Britain, united and fair. And they went for it.
@millystargirl@HunterHammersen Absolutely not knocking Tom Daley. He's working wonders on the yarn crafts and producing quality kits is great for newbies. My point was are These Two Guys wanting to capitalise on this for their own ends.
@KirstieMAllsopp Daughter's best was MissTrunchbull. No crafting - one of my shirts, belted with a large cushion for the bosom, school skirt and socks and hair tied back. Son hated dressing up so he was a Roald Dahl character in normal clothes - George, James, Charlie etc
@HunterHammersen Late to the party, caught this on UK Knitting & Crochet Guild. The cynic in me thinks that they might be riding the wave of Tom Daley's Olympic knitting/crochet and subsequent range of kits to prey on newbies unfamiliar with the indie market...and us
Sad news about Barry Cryer. A legend throughout my life thanks to my parents. If the TV stations do the right thing, the tributes programmes could fill the schedule for months. A truly funny man ❤️
@Aiannucci@NewStatesman If there is a drinking at work culture at No10, of course it will look like a work event. I'm waiting for that justification. Most organisations ended that culture years ago. The pandemic would have been an opportune time to end it in government, wouldn't it?
