@ZEB vs @ZWB, 10 years to Sept. 30, 2026:
Annualized total return: 16.17% vs 12.44%.
Distribution yield (same date): 2.45% vs 6.85%.
The bigger payout did not identify the stronger historical return. Net fees, reinvested distributions. Not a forecast.
The reason is 3% inflation. But gasoline is up 22.8% y/y and doing nearly all of it — core is already at the 2% target.
The Bank isn't fighting inflation that exists. It's guarding against inflation it thinks is coming: https://t.co/ja2NXY6wli

Brian Kingston and Flavio Volpe told CBC’s Power & Politics that U.S. Section 232 tariffs are breaking North American auto integration and making it cheaper to build cars in Japan or Germany for the U.S. market than to build them here
Kingston said the U.S. has collected more than US$50 billion in auto tariffs while exports are down over 20%, production and jobs are down, and prices are up. “This policy is not working.” Canada is the largest market for U.S.-built vehicles—more than Germany, Mexico, China, and Korea combined—yet U.S. exports to Canada have fallen 25%. “This is protectionism 101.”
Volpe noted Canadian-built vehicles carry about 50% U.S. content; cars from Japan, Korea, or Europe carry none. “We’re displacing the thing that made this whole area so competitive.” On the January 1 threat of 50% tariffs, he said it would hit Detroit first: “Washington’s policies are going to sink Detroit.”
Both called tariff relief the priority—90% of Canadian production still goes to the U.S. Volpe put the cost at roughly $180 billion: “They don’t print that money, they burn it.” @bkingston
"Sector ETF" sounds diversified. Check the holdings.
In the largest Canadian energy ETF, the top TWO holdings have made up close to half the entire fund.
That's not 26 companies. That's a big bet on 2, with 24 along for the ride.

"Father Time always wins." ⏳ Buffett, 96, just stepped down as Berkshire chairman. Those four words ended his letter. 🧵
2/ Berkshire is up 5,500,000%+ under him. The secret wasn't timing. It was time.
3/ His son Howard took the chair after 33 years on the board. Succession isn't luck. It's a plan.
4/ Big question: are you an investor or a trader? They're different games with different risks. https://t.co/zF7WjExg6G
5/ You can't beat Father Time. Start early, keep costs low, stay invested. Let him work for you. 💰 Full piece: https://t.co/0HvQOdS9Iu
@PeterSchiff@RCXFactor I used them a lot in Uber Panama m. Cheap prices and full 7 years warranty ! Now, beat that! I also remember the same comments when Japanese cars came to North America when I was a kid!
After the AI correction, active ETFs are being sold as the cure for concentration risk.
Sometimes they help. But you don't need to pay active fees to fix it.
An equal-weight ETF, a value tilt, or just global diversification does the same job — at index-fund cost.
