Indian think tank thought that America and Israel would crush Iran and there would be a regime change. They basically underestimated Iran, against the medal from the Israeli parliament.

So they maintained a distance from Iran. Not condemning the death of the supreme leader was also part of it. It looked like India had picked a side.

But Iran surprised not just them but the whole world.

That’s why India was in no position to mediate.

Also, Iran chose Pakistan because they wanted benefits over America and Israel. They had seen how Mr. Modi looked clueless against America and how Trump behaved with Modi, so they thought India would not be the right choice to get the most benefits.
