Darlington Amofa Esq. brilliantly reflects on litigation funding in Ghana. In his must read reflection for all litigation lawyers, he insightfully examines the doctrines of maintenance and champerty within Ghanaian law, tracing their historical foundations, their reception into our legal system, and their continued relevance in contemporary contract law. More importantly, he considers whether the law, as it presently stands, is capable of distinguishing between abusive trafficking in litigation and genuine third-party funding arrangements aimed at expanding access to justice.

My core beef with Ghanaian journalism. With very few exceptions, most see their jobs as a personal access vehicle rather than one for public accountability. Hence the rote repetition of official statements as news, and the ludicrous trend of news cards with no linked articles.
