We live in a culture that does not care about its women and girls. Women being dismissed as unsure of their desires or melodramatic.
My assault confused me for years of my life. I felt like I was making too big of a deal and then sometimes I felt like I wasn’t making a big
I got sued for defamation when I named the guy who had raped me. I was lucky to have a lawyer who not only believed me but wanted to fight for me, and did so successfully. Earlier today I had my (what felt like) millionth therapy session about being raped. I always think about
when you are a victim of sexual assault/harassment/abuse/rape you see yourself in every victim, in every jane doe. and to all women i’m so sorry we have to carry that with us. please stay strong in times like this 🩷 i love you all
And putting Africa aside, there isn’t a singular European country that has more global influence than America. They’re in everyone business. Every country. That’s what imperialism is.
That’s why they’re the current empire.
In college, I dated a guy who seemed perfect. He had sisters, he was unbelievably sweet, he was gentle with me. A month before he and I met, I’d been sexually assaulted so violently it put me in the hospital. I had told no one in my life
my mother told me once about the time she was raped in college. the men CARVED THEIR NAMES INTO HER FLESH and they did nothing. not a goddamn thing. the pain, guilt, shame she carried the rest of her life was unbearable. they said she "lacked evidence". are you fucking kidding me

I’m scared sharing this. I was r*ped in a frat house in college by someone I thought was my friend. I thought I was safe. I wasn’t. I didn’t report it. It devastated me. I almost changed schools. I became suicidal. Too many women have a story like what happened at Cornell.
2019 i needed a rape kit. the male nurses joked about being bored while i was swabbed, crying, my clothes in a plastic bag. i knew then if even the men meant to help looked through me, i couldn’t report. i never pressed charges. fuck cornell and every complicit, indifferent man.
Anyway one thing I wish we got a little more comfortable saying is that the reason that rape and sexual assault are ubiquitous experiences in women’s lives is because they are not outlier male behavior.
