IT COMES BACK TO LIFE EVEN AFTER ITS DNA IS SHATTERED!
The cell’s DNA repair mechanisms begin working in coordination.
DdrA protects the broken DNA ends.
DdrB helps the DNA fragments pair up correctly.
DdrC plays a role in repairing DNA breaks.
But here’s what’s even more remarkable: How are these proteins protected from radiation? By a specialized antioxidant system containing manganese. Even when the DNA is severely damaged, the DNA repair proteins can continue to function.

👉Hücredeki DNA onarım mekanizmaları eşgüdümlü olarak çalışmaya başlıyor.
DdrA, kırık uçları koruyor.
DdrB, parçaların doğru şekilde eşleşmesine yardımcı oluyor.
DdrC ise DNA kırıklarının onarımında rol oynuyor.
Ama asıl ilginç olan şu:
Bu proteinler radyasyondan nasıl korunuyor?
Manganez içeren özel bir antioksidan sistem sayesinde.
DNA ağır hasar görse bile,
onarım proteinleri işlevlerini sürdürebiliyor.

THE INCREDIBLY STRONG FEET OF WEAVER ANTS
👉In a famous experiment by Dr. Thomas Endlein and Dr. Walter Federle,
Asian weaver ants were placed upside down on a smooth glass surface,
and small weights were attached to their bodies. The weaver ants were able to carry more than 100 times their own body weight without falling from the glass.
Endlein and his team found that
as the load increased, the fluid-filled adhesive pads on the ants’ feet expanded.
As the load gets heavier, the contact area between the foot and the surface increases. They grip the surface so strongly that it seems almost impossible for these ants to take a step. But the moment they lift their feet, the pads retract.

FROM DEADLY HARPOON TO MEDICAL MIRACLE
👉Many cone snail species use a venomous harpoon fired from their extendable proboscis to poison and paralyze fish within seconds.
The venom of these snails contains numerous peptides called conotoxins.
Prof. Baldomero Olivera pioneered research into cone snail venom and contributed to the development of Prialt, which is 1,000 times more potent than morphine.
Unlike morphine, Prialt is not addictive, but it has to be injected into the cerebrospinal fluid.
A new study published in 2026 showed that a peptide called AoIA, derived from cone snail venom, supports the body’s own pain-inhibiting mechanisms.
It paved the way for a practical painkiller that can be administered under the skin.

👉 "A chemist would never have thought of making Taxol unless they had seen it."
Plants can synthesize tens of thousands of different molecules. Prof. Dean DellaPenna of Michigan State University, who studies how the periwinkle plant of Madagascar makes the cancer drugs vincristine and vinblastine, says: “Many plants make compounds that we use directly as medicines or that we modify slightly to create widely used medicines, but in almost all cases we do not understand how the plants synthesize these compounds.”

👉👉👉What does a kingfisher’s beak have to do with Japan’s high-speed trains?
In the 1990s, Japanese engineer Eiji Nakatsu
was trying to solve a major problem with the Shinkansen bullet trains.
When the train entered a tunnel at high speed,
it compressed the air in front of it.
This created a pressure wave that traveled through the tunnel.
When the pressure wave reached the tunnel exit,
it could produce a powerful, explosive-like sound.
Nakatsu was also a birdwatcher.
He was fascinated by how the kingfisher could pierce the water with its beak, with almost no splash.
He thought the shape of its beak could help reduce the resistance
created as it entered the water.
Inspired by this idea, engineers tested different shapes for the front of the train.
The design that most closely resembled the kingfisher’s beak performed by far the best.
And so, the 500 Series Shinkansen was born.
The train entered service in 1997
and could reach speeds of up to 300 kilometers per hour.
The design reduced the effects of air pressure created as the train entered a tunnel
and cut electricity consumption by about 15 percent.

‼️“Is the brain an organ that generates consciousness, or is consciousness one of the more fundamental features of the universe, like space and time?” This is the question Professor Christof Koch—one of the world's most prominent neuroscientists— raised in his talk at the Behind and Beyond the Brain symposium in April 2026. In the same talk, Koch examined the limits of materialism and pointed to unusual human experiences —including near-death experiences, mystical states, and terminal lucidity— arguing that such phenomena deserve serious scientific investigation. A similar call has come from Associate Professor Sam Parnia and his colleagues. In a 2026 paper published in Nature Reviews Neurology, they called for near-death experiences to be studied empirically and across disciplines, without premature assumptions or theoretical bias.
