@NuraPixel It's way lighter than Unity, and more responsive too. Launching a game is usually almost instantaneous too, which you'll get VERY used to. It's also a great choice for 2D pixel art games.
@gamefromscratch All Affinity products are now free! ...for anyone with a Canva subscription, not just for schools and non profit!
I fail to imagine it'll be anything benevolent because nothing good ever happens in tech anymore
@BenjiGameDev That said I don't think I'd still choose it if it was further away from my POV, or was more to the left or right. If you rotate them around the center CW, I lean towards C.
@BenjiGameDev My I saw the image my eyes focused immediately on D, so thst's my choice too. If I try to explain why, my brain thinks: A is behind me, C and B are too far off the center, and D is right there at the center, and is in front of "me", the player.
@nicbarkeragain trying to abstract things, figuring out who should be responsible for owning and/or handling an entity or functionality, making the code "clean", etc.
Sadly by the time I realize it so much time is wasted, time that could've been spent on actual stuff like mechanics
@nicbarkeragain Freeing for sure, but also very difficult with all the unlearning that you need to do. As an experienced web dev dabbling in low level programming and gamedev I'm having a hard time trying to shake off my decades old habits. Despite trying so hard I always find myself-
@fffabs You mean I can't spend days thinking about the accessibility features of my prototype and even more days reimplementing already working features into an unmaintainable mess, end up with a code that's way beyond saving, ultimately forcing me to abandon the project?
Few things are as useless as GitHub's code search functionality. I'd understand if they postpone indexing until the first code search, but not that it would take hours.
It's been well over an hour since I've had this screen. In that time I could've read through the entire code
@KenneyNL Ah crap, do good things no longer happen in the software world anymore? I used to like how close to the UX of Affinity was to older Photoshop versions and was even considering to buy the whole package despite it being quite expensive where I live
