i love when you read a book and you become so emotionally invested in it, and when you walk around public places after reading it you feel like you’re in this bubble by yourself, like you’re so deeply inside your mind you’re actually out of touch with reality.

Both things are exactly true simultaneously. The smartphone ruined attention spans, social skills, and sleep while also making it possible to navigate, communicate, and travel in ways that would have been genuinely impossible thirty years ago. We traded some things. We just haven't agreed on whether the trade was fair yet.
everyone i know in their late 20s is having an existential crisis because we skipped our mid 20s in the pandemic. relationships fast-tracked, careers faltered, we lost those core identity-building years and now we feel like 23-year-old brains in bodies approaching 30
