Don't get a Master's degree right after college.
I didn't know this back then (I wanted to go directly into a Master's program), but it's much better to get a job and gain some experience before returning to school.
Here is what I did:
• Graduated in 2004
• Got a job (multiple jobs)
• Went back to school in 2015
I was one of the top students in my Master's program. Not because I was smart, but because I had real-world experience.
Real-world experience + education is a powerful combination.
Something else happened:
I was taking classes while working a full-time job. This gave me the unique opportunity to apply everything I was learning at school right in my company.
If you can take theoretical lessons and immediately apply them in the real world, you'll learn and retain 10x more than everyone else.
None of this was planned. It just happened that way for me.
