Rocket Update

The funds taken in the 5 September incident have been returned to us in full. Every affected user was already made whole on the day, so this closes the loop on our side.

Thank you to everyone who helped us over the past two weeks, and to our community for the patience and the messages. It meant a lot.

Bear with us over the coming weeks while we make a few upgrades to the platform.

The Rolex competition will move to a new date, which we will announce soon. Nobody loses their place.

Update on the 5 September incident

The attackers made contact this week through a representative. They did not accept our terms, and the deadline passed at 23:59 UTC on 10 September.

Within 48 hours of the incident we knew who we were dealing with.

This week we have spoken to every significantly impacted party and set out how we will take the matter forward. All are aligned on the approach.

This is a serious matter and we will share as much detail as we are legally able to.

We will see this through.

Update on the 09/05/2026 incident.

The attackers have until 23:59 UTC tonight to return the funds and walk away as whitehats. Same choice they made in July, after a near-identical attack.

The investigation mapped their entire network. Two of the main wallets end in …2bEb and …d2E5. Active tracking on everything they do on their entire network is currently active.

Every transactions was traced, including the deposits and withdrawals through Tornado Cash.

The file is complete. If they don't return the funds by the deadline, it goes to the authorities. All relevant exchanges and law enforcement have been notified and are awaiting it and it won't be ours to stop anymore. But its their decision at the end.

it's been an insane journey

on the surface it looks like just another table with reflinks, something you could vibecode in 5 minutes, but...

around 5 months ago this was a plain notion table, and i was pulling data from the defillama api. then i hit the wall where the data i actually needed was paid, so that pushed me to figure out exchange apis directly. it was hard and confusing - docs, requests, all this stuff i'd never touched

over time i moved to building my own thing, vibecoding the site from scratch, and honestly it was awful. looking back now i realize the architecture was terrible

i'd just write to claude "do this", never even thinking about stuff like the difference between rest and websocket apis, what database i actually needed for my tasks - graphql, postgres, or maybe clickhouse. i had no idea rate limits were a thing, or that you need to design limiters around them

hundreds of microsystems have to run in parallel, nothing can break, and the end user needs it all loading fast

and i'm incredibly glad i got this experience
