What Vinicius did is what we expect a world class player to do at the greatest stage of all. And doing it in the group stages and flop in knockouts like Ronaldo is much discouraged
The day was Friday, 11 June 2010. I was heading to school, and along the way, I met my friends from those days. It was the last day of school for the first term, and the talk of the city was the World Cup kickoff that would take place later in the evening. We were excited because the 2010 South Africa World Cup came at a time when there was no school for the rest of the month π, so it was not just the World Cup, but the World Cup and no school.
I came back home from school with my report card, and my father was not happy because I was 11th after being 1st in the class just 2 months earlier in the midterm exams ππ. But I couldnβt be bothered because school meant nothing to meβfootball was everything then.
South Africa πΏπ¦ vs. Mexico π²π½ was a disappointing game because after Tshabalala gave us the lead, we thought it was over, but Mexico equalized, and the game ended in a draw.
Today, looking 16 years back, all Iβm wondering is how time flies so fast. Today, 11th June 2026, features the exact same fixture, but this time Mexico π²π½ is the host and we will be there π€!
