The last few days have been wholly traumatizing. From our illegal detention to forceful eviction from our own Gwadar, and then today’s raid in Gwadar’s press club to confirm if we were not organizing our event, all have been of serious notes, despite the fact that our One-Day Conference was only a peaceful and simple ceremony which was scheduled to be held inside the press club where we were to debate on the existing and contemporary political situations of Balochistan. But we were barred. We were threatened and then we were dealt with as strangers by strangers in our own land. This is what is the most mortifying point. They forced us to sign various documents which included our “disallowance to enter Gwadar again”, which we did not sign, and will never sign.
When we were transferred to Turbat, we were again told that we were disallowed to move to Gwadar ever again. Such tactics have been used to curb the space for peaceful political activities and sending a narrative that “Gwadar did not belong to us”, but we are never going to endorse it, neither are we stepping back. Such acts will further strengthen us and push us for doing more for the collective national interests.
During all this time, the people of Gwadar have been very much supporting. From joining us in our campaign from home to home to standing firm against the brutal forces during our custody, we have been wholly helped, for which we greatly remain pleased with them. This was the best we could ever expect from our people who have been playing the role of “mountains” for us – who have taken care of us more than anything during all this administrative drama. This shows that our people have always been ready to stand by their people, and this experience will definitely boost us to work more for the entire nation.
Overall, it was an organizational experience of maturing more in the future which we will definitely look up to from every point. We ensure that we will raise higher and stronger to uphold the Baloch rights in the best interests of the nation.
I also hope we lived the moment of our title for the ceremony: “The state crackdown on peaceful political parties”, which, I believe, was practically seen by the people we wanted to convey our message to. This ensures the success of our One-Day Conference.
Zeeshan Zaheer was a dedicated member of the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) Panjgur zone. He had been tirelessly campaigning alongside his sister for the safe recovery of their forcefully disappeared father, Zaheer Baloch, for the past ten years. Zeeshan was abducted by state-backed death squads on 29th of June from football chowk in Panjgur. Previous morning, his bullet-riddled body was found in Surdu area. He is yet another young Baloch silenced for demanding justice through peaceful means.
This is the grim reality of how the Pakistani state treats Baloch individuals who dare to raise their voices through non-violent resistance. The families of Baloch missing persons have endured years of harassment, threats, and psychological torture at the hands of the state and its proxy militias. When intimidation failed to break their resolve, the state has now resorted to cold-blooded murder. But just as their previous policies failed to crush the spirit of Baloch resistance, this one too shall collapse under the weight of our collective defiance.
Now is the time for the Baloch nation to unite beyond tribal, regional, or political differences. It is time to stand shoulder to shoulder with the families of the missing persons, to expose the brutality of the Pakistani state and its death squads to the world. The murder of Zeeshan Zaheer is not just a tragedy but a call to action.
We urge every conscientious Baloch to join the BYC protests across Balochistan. Let our unity be our strength, and our resistance be our tribute to Zeeshan’s sacrifice. Let the world know that the Baloch will not be silenced.

The cries of the disappeared fall like rain in summer, unheard. As long as the perpetrators remain unpunished, the scourge of enforced disappearances will continue unabated.

Mahrang rose where the ground still smelled of blood.
Not from books, not from dreams,
but from the soil where her father’s blood spelled her name,
from the silence that lingered after boots slammed the door behind them.
She could have stayed.
White coat. Bright ward.
The clean clink of surgical steel.
But how do you stitch wounds
while the land itself is torn open, daily?
How do you save a life,
while your homeland is dying?
Not all rise.
But some do.
And Mahrang
she rose with her grief tucked under her arm
like a worn notebook,
her rage quiet, exact,
the kind only those who’ve lost everything can carry.
Once for her father.
Then for her brother.
Now, for all those lost and never returned.
The courtroom wants her vanished.
The state wants her dissolved,
in time, in silence, in surrender.
But they forget
absence is the first language Mahrang ever learned.
She has buried names inside her like seeds.
She knows how pain flowers.
She knows how to keep going when there is no map.
She is not made of mercy.
She is made of memory,
of fists unclenched and retightened,
of love too wild to be quiet.
Mahrang is the rhythm on a million backs
and every one of them stands when she does.

Dr. Mahrang Baloch is not just a name she is the heartbeat of a wounded nation, the voice of the voiceless, the flame that refuses to die in the darkest nights. Her resistance is not rebellion it is remembrance, of every disappeared soul. She carries Balochistan in her veins.
