After the strong earthquake yesterday all @UNinFiji staff based in Vanuatu are accounted for and well.
The Vanuatu 🇻🇺 government has requested @UN support. We are ready to deploy and are working with government and partners on an effective and coordinated response.
We at @UNFPA are concerned about the situation in #Vanuatu following the devastating earthquake that struck the island yesterday.
I witnessed the resilience of the Vanuatu people during my visit this month. Keeping everyone affected by this disaster in my thoughts.
Our Director, Anjali Sen, met with H.E Lynda Tabuya, Fiji’s Minister for Women, Children & Social Protection to discuss the critical issue of GBV in the Pacific.
@UNFPAPacific is proud to acknowledge Fiji's leadership in advancing the rights of women & girls in the Pacific.
A warm Vanuatu Welkam to our Executive Director, H.E. Natalia Kanem, who has arrived in #Vanuatu. She'll be visiting Vanuatu & Nauru during her time in the Pacific. Big thanks to the Vanuatu National Youth Council for the amazing welcome! 📷 #Vanuatu#Pacific#YouthPower
I met with new mothers at a @UNFPA-supported health centre in #Vanuatu providing reproductive and maternal health services.
The dedicated health workers of the centre touch countless lives every day and are the backbone of the North Efate community.

In #Vanuatu, alongside @Atayeshe I listened to how communities are building resilience + adapting to #climatechange. Women and girls, disproportionately affected, must be at the heart of climate action.
@UNFPA, with the Govt + partners are advancing life skills programmes, sexual + reproductive health services + gender-based violence protection—ensuring we #LeaveNoOneBehind.
A momentous occasion in Nauru! @UNFPA ED, Natalia Kanem & H.E, President David Adeang officially opened the new UN Office.
This marks a significant step in strengthening our partnership to serve people & Govt of Nauru in achieving our shared goals for sustainable development.
In #Nauru, I joined @Atayeshe to see the vital frontline care at the island’s maternity ward, launch the GBV Clinical Guideline & meet H.E. President David Adeang and Minister Charmaine Eraidinomo Scotty to discuss advancing health + safety for women and girls.
@UNFPA stands with Pacific communities to build a sustainable + equitable future for all.
As the world observes #16Days of activism against gender-based violence, I was pleased to help @UNFPA and the Government of #Nauru launch guidelines for the care of survivors.
All GBV survivors deserve protection, justice and life-saving support.
Delighted to meet with H.E. David Ranibok Waiau Adeang, President of the Republic of #Nauru.
@UNFPA established a presence in the country this year.
We thank Nauru for its leadership in highlighting the impacts of climate change and the unique needs of the #Pacific region.
In 2024 suffering mounted yet humanitarian funding did not, leaving millions of women and girls increasingly at risk.
@UNFPA appeals for $1.4 billion in 2025 to provide life-saving support to 45 million people in 57 crises-stricken countries: https://t.co/1pg1cOnRYC

I'm in Vanuatu and Nauru this week to see firsthand the unique impact of the climate crisis on women and girls in the #Pacific.
@UNFPA staff work hard to leave no one behind, delivering vital reproductive health services and supplies in hard-to-reach communities.
