Kenya requires a comprehensive referendum law, primarily to fill a gap and operationalise the constitutional provisions that require referenda in this country. This law will ensure clear, transparent, and enforceable procedures.

The Senate Standing Committee on Health today considered The Quality Healthcare and Patient Safety Bill, 2025 (National Assembly Bills No. 41 of 2025).
The Bill seeks to give effect to Article 43(1)(a) of the Constitution by establishing a comprehensive legal and institutional framework to promote, regulate and continuously improve the quality of healthcare in Kenya. It also proposes to safeguard patients' rights, establish the Quality Healthcare and Patient Safety Authority, create a specialised Health Care Tribunal, and provide penalties for non-compliance.
Hon. CS Alfred Mutua: The annual disbursements in Direct Cash Transfers for the Inua Jamii Cash Transfer programme for the last three years of FY22/23, 23/24 and 24/25 is as follows;
i. Older Persons Cash Transfer programme was Ksh 17.83 Billion,18.69 Billion and 27.39 Billion, respectively, bringing the total disbursed amount to Ksh 63.92 Billion for the three years.
ii. Persons with Severe Disabilities Cash Transfer programme was Ksh 908 Million, 1.02 Billion and Ksh 1.36 Billion, respectively. #SenateLive
