So pleased that @POTUS is attending the NATO Summit in Turkey at a very important time in world history, not only for the future of NATO but also for the stability of Europe and the U.S. I very much appreciate and admire President Trump’s insistence that NATO nations spend more on the common defense and carry more of the burden for the alliance going forward. In this regard, non-American NATO defense spending has tremendously surged – I give President Trump full credit for that. He has accomplished what other presidents only talked about doing.

Ukraine has exceeded every expectation in terms of liberating their country from Russian invasion and is worthy of continued increased support. My Russia sanctions bill with Senator Blumenthal can make a real difference. The legislation - with wide and deep bipartisan support - would allow President Trump to put tariffs on the top countries that buy cheap Russian oil and natural gas to prop up Putin’s war machine.

In my opinion, this summer is the time to go all in to put pressure on Putin to get to the peace table and end the bloodbath.

It was my honor to present this flag that flew over our capitol to Medal of Honor recipient Retired U.S. Army Colonel Gordon Roberts, a Vietnam War veteran, while visiting the Ralph H. Johnson VA Hospital in Charleston.

Then-Sergeant Roberts was serving with the 101st Airborne Division in South Vietnam in 1969, when he singlehandedly charged, assaulted, and neutralized multiple enemy strongpoints while also moving wounded soldiers to evacuation areas. Colonel Roberts retired in 2012 after over 44 years of military service.

The VA hospital is named after another Vietnam War veteran Ralph Henry Johnson who was killed in action in 1968. He risked his life to save his fellow Marines when he jumped on an enemy grenade that was thrown into his position. His selfless action prevented the enemy from advancing past his patrol point and saved the lives of his fellow Marines.

The sacrifices of our heroes will never be forgotten !

We had an excellent discussion about community needs and how we can continue to work together on things like public safety funding.

I really appreciate all the support I’ve received over the years from Dorchester County and look forward to continuing to work with local officials to improve and grow their community.

I just had a great meeting with officials and representatives from across Berkeley County.

Berkeley County is one of the fastest growing counties in the state with a great quality of life. I want to partner with the local community to keep it that way.

I was pleased to inform those in attendance at the meeting that Berkeley County is receiving one of the unprecedented four BUILD grants awarded to South Carolina. That $22 million grant will be lifechanging to the county’s transportation infrastructure. I am very appreciative of the Trump Administration for awarding these dollars to our state.

I’m glad to advocate for communities who are willing to help themselves before asking others. Berkeley County has done that.

I’m grateful for the longstanding support I’ve received from Berkeley County and will continue to listen, learn and help lead when it comes to the needs of their community.

One year ago, President Trump signed the One Big Beautiful Bill into law, delivering the largest tax cut for working and middle-class families in American history. As the Senate @BudgetGOP Chairman, I was proud to lead this effort alongside my Senate and House Republican colleagues. By making the 2017 tax cuts permanent, we stopped a $2,300 tax increase on the average South Carolina family – all without a single Democrat vote. We also ended taxes on tips and overtime and delivered no taxes on Social Security benefits for over 35 million seniors.

The One Big Beautiful Bill also codified core components of @POTUS' agenda. Through a generational investment in border security, we put an end to Joe Biden’s open border. We also allocated extensive resources for law enforcement, expanded access to school choice, phased out Green New Deal subsidies and delivered billions of dollars for rural hospitals.

Twelve months later, we are now observing transformational results stemming from this legislation. Working families are keeping more of their hard-earned money, providing relief to the lingering inflation ignited under the Biden era. The border is at its most secure point in history with zero illegals released into the country over the past year. Crime is falling to a record low as police departments receive the tools they need to keep communities safe.

As we celebrate the past 250 years of American independence, we also recognize the great strides toward a more prosperous and secure future unleashed by this landmark legislation.

I just finished a tour of the Ralph H. Johnson VA Medical Center in Charleston and was beyond impressed. All of us in South Carolina should be tremendously proud of the Charleston VA Hospital and VA hospitals across America. They provide high quality care to veterans that were injured in the line of service and to whom we all owe a great debt of gratitude. The Charleston VA hospital is the third fastest growing VA hospital in the country. It serves veterans from Myrtle Beach to Savannah and is one of the most innovative VA facilities in the country.

The partnership between the Charleston VA Hospital and the MUSC Hospital is cutting edge and leverages the best of both.

As we celebrate the 250th anniversary of our independence as a nation, I am reminded of the counsel of George Washington who said you should judge a country by the way it treats their veterans. I completely agree with that standard. I will do everything in my power to make sure we live up to our commitment to take care of those who were willing to risk it all, and particularly those who became disabled in the line of duty. Our freedom has been maintained by the sacrifice by Americans writ large but no group has sacrificed more than the American veteran.

I am pleased that the Court’s opinion preserves the plain meaning of Title IX, allowing dozens of states, including South Carolina, to protect safety, privacy, and fairness in women’s sports. Today the Supreme Court, in upholding state laws protecting women’s sports, has affirmed basic principles of biology and fairness.

For decades, female athletes fought for fair and equal athletic opportunities, culminating in the passage of Title IX. However, in recent years, this historic legislation came under attack as woke ideology tried to supersede biological reality. As a result, countless women and girls have lost out on trophies and been forced to play under unsafe conditions.

Today’s ruling is not only a victory for female athletes but for common sense and justice.

For years, I have been pushing legislation and a constitutional amendment to change the United States’ policy on birthright citizenship. While I’m disappointed in the Court’s decision regarding birthright citizenship, I am determined more than ever to put an end to this major magnet for illegal immigration and birth tourism.

The United States is one of a handful of countries that allows foreign nationals, regardless of their parents’ legal status, to obtain citizenship simply by virtue of being born on its soil. There are entire industries that cater to families, including those from adversarial nations like China, who come to the U.S. with the sole intention of having their child born here so they automatically become an American citizen because they were born on U.S. soil. Birthright tourism is offensive to me, and it is offensive to the concept of American citizenship.

There should be two pathways to citizenship – one, under the 14th Amendment, to ‘All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof’ and two, via naturalization. I disagree with the Supreme Court that children of illegal aliens and aliens only in the U.S. temporarily are ‘subject to the jurisdiction’ of the United States.

I will continue to push to fix this major pull factor for birth tourism and illegal immigration into the U.S. This would align America with the vast majority of the modern world. When I am chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee next year, I will make this one of my top priorities.

I had the great privilege of attending patriotic services at First Presbyterian in Greenville and First Baptist Church in Columbia.

It was an honor to present Bill Quarles, a WWII vet who turns 103 in July, with a flag that was flown over the U.S. Capitol in his honor.

Thank you to Rev. Dr. Richard Gibbons and Dr. Wes Church. The services were simply awesome and inspiring, reminding us all that God has truly blessed our nation. I’m sure at times the preparation and work that went into these services seemed overwhelming. But I can assure you it paid off! Like everyone in attendance, I left the church hopeful that America’s best days lie ahead if we keep a simple phrase in mind: In God We Trust.
