20 youth have undergone On Job training & Skilling in welding, metalworks & fabrication in a business oriented environment while earning an income.
7 youth now own workshops & 11 are integrated into other workstations.

Uganda stands at a decisive moment years after our liberation struggle, the next frontier of sovereignty is economic and industrial self-reliance. One critical sector is road construction and engineering. We cannot continue to outsource major infrastructure projects while local capacity remains underdeveloped. It is time to deliberately invest in and support at least four credible Ugandan road construction companies, including the UPDF Engineering Brigade, to build a strong, competitive, and self-sustaining industry. Countries like Ethiopia have demonstrated that prioritizing domestic firms can accelerate skills transfer, create jobs, and retain capital within the economy. This is not about rejecting foreign partnerships, but about correcting an imbalance that has long disadvantaged local enterprise. Strategic infrastructure should be a foundation for national strength, not dependency. By empowering Ugandan firms, we lay the groundwork for innovation, resilience, and true sovereignty. The road to economic independence must quite literally be built by our own hands deliberately, boldly, and with long-term vision.@KagutaMuseveni @mkainerugaba @GenWamala @HonEchweru
