Sad news yesterday out of the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston. Bishop Sheltz was a great friend to SOS!

Auxiliary Bishop George A. Sheltz, 75, passed away this evening. He dedicated his life to the Lord for more than 50 years as a priest in his home diocese. Cardinal DiNardo asks the faithful to pray for his family and his eternal rest. Funeral arrangements currently pending.

Dec 13 - Feast Day of St. Othilia!
While St. Lucy gets first bidding, St. Odilia shares the day and is also a patron of the blind or partially sighted. Born blind, she healed when baptized. When her brother was killed, she raised him back to life.
St. Othilia... pray for us!

Patron: Blindness, Diseases of the Eye, and Light in the Darkness!
She speaks to our work at SOS. She brought aid to Christians in hiding, during torture, her eyes were gouged out, then returned to her even more beautiful.

Feast of St. Juan Diego!
1531 Mary appeared to Juan Diego and asked for a church to be built. His bishop asked for some sort of sign. Mary appeared to Juan Diego again and asked him to gather flowers in his cloak, when he emptied his cloak, Our Lady of Guadalupe image was there.
