@Cwm1234567@Nole2death@EricTrump@GenJ55X There are maybe a half dozen really good books on this. Better than short tweet discourse. Dan Ariely and Steven Pinker are notable experts.
@Cwm1234567@Nole2death@EricTrump@GenJ55X To make sure I’m clear: was the person mad bc they believed that the post by DC was from a hacked account and not genuine? I can say why either side of that would take a strong stance. But really would my answer surprise you?
@Cwm1234567@Nole2death@EricTrump@GenJ55X I commend you for your ideals But I’m surprised you see something extremely common in the past and now, and you reject that it comes from the result of human nature in context of tribe and threat. It takes work to hold your stance, but nothing for tribalism. It’s natural.
@Cwm1234567@Nole2death@EricTrump@GenJ55X In my view tribalism has dominant for most of our time on earth. The enlightenment values of assessing merits of ideas on our own and not wedding our identities to a side or representative person is valuable but rare. So the question is:how is it cultivated or created?
@Cwm1234567@Nole2death@EricTrump@GenJ55X I see. I’m looking forward to reading Sebastian Junger book Trine that I think discusses why people behave this way. I think people take sides and then view opposition as a threat to the self.
