Happy #Ujamaa Thursday! We walked over to the Ujamaa Health Food Store for our monthly Ujamaa Thursday trip. They are #Blackowned and carry everything from soaps to snacks! Today we purchased dried pineapple, black soap for all of our little ones and some sweet fresh coconut 🌴

Finishing up in Ghana! 🇬🇭 We read Anansi the Spider and then created our own Anansi spiders. 🕷️🕸️🕷️Next stop Mali 🇲��

Today we finished up our Carnation Flower experiment...made our observations and recorded our results! The flowers came out really pretty. We definitely recommend you trying this at home with your own little ones to explore primary and secondary colors. 💮🏵️💮

The SVMS watoto are on to their secondary colors 🎨🎨 We read Mouse Paint and then did some color mixing of our own. Then of course we threw a science experiment in the mix using our new color creations and carnation flowers. We will record the results on #Umoja Monday. 👨🏾‍🔬

Since we are exploring #Ghana 🇬🇭 this week, we learned about #Kente cloth today! We talked about the colors used on the cloth and their meanings. Then we celebrated #Kujichagulia Tuesday by choosing colors that defined us as a school.

We started our " Great Celery Experiment" today! 😁😁 We discussed the scientific method and our little scientists had a blast setting up the experiment. 👩🏾‍🔬👨🏾‍🔬 We also completed observation worksheets and created a class hypothesis chart.

We took our first #Ujamaa trip. This month we gave our support to our favorite smoothie spot in Brooklyn, Organic Love ! They are located on 313A Utica Ave so go check them out. Sidenote: It was awesome that Organic Love had up a photo of Emperor Haile Selassie I!
