@Kswing6@shegone03 The only reason they probably wrote it that way is because you have to allow people to take a wide turn if needed while running around. Otherwise the rule should just be the base path is a straight line between the bases and you have to stay within it
@Kswing6@shegone03 I'm also not a fan of either team. I just do think it was a smart play by the baserunner to start veering out immediately before any tag can begin bc that is by rule legal. It's honestly a stupid and confusingly written rule! Agree bro thanks for the convo
@Kswing6@shegone03 The moment Henderson attempted the tag he took at most 2. So I'll give you he's out im fine with that.
Umpire Bible says you can in theory veer in the grass. There is no restriction on where you can run until there is an attempted tag.
@Kswing6@shegone03 Baseball rules have too much gray area. When the tag starts is a judgement. He didn't take 6 steps once the tag began. He took 1-2. I'm fine with him being called out but don't think it's an obvious slam dunk like a lot do
@Kswing6@shegone03 He might be beyond 3 feet but no way would i say well beyond. He took one stride and then his momentum took him a little more but he was trying to reach back. The correct game management move was to probably call him out but safe has an argument by rule
@shegone03 Well I can't tell if you changed your mind here, but you said earlier he should be out. I'd say 3 feet is one stride. To me, that's what he took once the tag attempt started. So legal baserunning. I also think if they would've just called him out, no one is talking about it
