🚨 BREAKING: UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer announces his resignation
Speaking outside 10 Downing Street, Starmer said he would step down as both Prime Minister and leader of the Labour Party. He will remain in office until a successor is elected.
His resignation comes amid growing pressure within Labour following a series of disappointing election results and declining support for the government. Former Manchester mayor Andy Burnham is among the names being mentioned as a potential successor.
If a new leader is chosen in the coming months, Britain will have had its seventh prime minister in just ten years.
💬 “When I leave the most important job in the country, I will be able to spend more time on the most important job of all.
Being a better husband to my wonderful wife, Vic, who has been my rock through good times and bad.
And being a better father to my beautiful children, who are my pride and joy,” Starmer said.
