Illinois Senate Republican Leader John Curran (R-Downers Grove) released the following statement in response to the statement from Gov. Pritzker following the Chicago Bears' announcement they will move forward in Indiana:
Asked by @craigrwall about Republican support for a scaled-back Bears bill, @ILSenateGOP Leader John Curran says “I think that's the only option at this point. This is too late in the session to do a statewide mega projects bill where you don't know what might be going in there.”
I am saddened to hear of the passing of the civil rights, faith, and Illinois leader the Rev. Jesse Jackson. Rev. Jesse Jackson dedicated his life to fighting for justice and civil rights. I am praying for his family and all who knew him during this time of loss.
Illinois Senate Republicans have introduced a package of legislation aimed at strengthening protections for victims of domestic violence and holding repeat offenders accountable. The proposal comes as domestic violence-related deaths continue to rise across the state.
This legislative package is just one step towards lowering the domestic violence death rate, empowering and protecting victims and, hopefully, helping to end the cycle of domestic violence that has hurt - and taken - far too many lives.
Thank you @LTHS_D204 for sending some of your brightest minds to our Youth Advisory Council this fall. I was impressed with the students’ unique proposals and thoughtful questions. Email [email protected] to learn more about this young leadership event.
Some seniors had the opportunity to participate in Senator John Curran’s Youth Advisory Council, gaining insight into civic engagement and leadership. Thanks for having us! #WeAreLT
I extend my sincere condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of former Illinois Governor Jim Edgar. His legacy of common sense, bipartisan leadership will continue on through his many accomplishments here in Illinois.
The @ILSenateGOP is praying for @charliekirk11 and his family as we wait for more on this heinous shooting. This ignorant intolerance of free speech and opposing viewpoints has no place in an open, just, and free society.
Thank you to the @ILREALTOR for hosting a ‘Let’s Talk Real Estate’ meeting with some of our local housing business leaders. I look forward to collaborating with them on policies to make Illinois a more affordable place to live, work and raise a family.
I appreciated the chance to talk with @joewalkerWSJ about Illinois for his thoughtful, informative piece on the growing budgetary crisis non-citizen health care is place on states like ours in the @WSJ.
Worth the read.
Progressive governors around the country extended state-funded healthcare to undocumented immigrants. But budget woes are hitting the programs. https://t.co/FFQnUMSSNW
My condolences are with the loved ones of Speaker Emerita Melissa Hortman and her husband Mark and I am praying for a quick and full recovery for Senator Hoffman and his wife as well as the law enforcement personnel working to apprehend the perpetrator.
Thank you to all the family, friends and concerned citizens who have checked in on my Illinois Senate Republican Caucus colleagues and I in regards to the assassinations in Minnesota. I am in communication with Gov. Pritzker and ISP to ensure the safety of our elected officials.
