Just to be fair, everyone who comes from countries which were colonized by Spain… can check the Latino box. Not just Filipinos. Census defines Latino/Hispanic as a person “other Spanish culture or origin regardless of race.”

That actually makes sense. Likely Fillipino and Latino are close in terms of their ethnicity mixture. Both groups are a blend of Asians and white. The children of my friends with Filipino mom and white dad in fact look like Latino.
