"The government and President Azali (Assoumani) heard the cries of the Comorian people. There ⁠was no other solution than to listen to them. The goal is to preserve peace," Energy Minister Aboubacar Saïd Anli announces.

President Azali suspended the decrees related to the fuel price hike, which were introduced on May 9, to allow for talks on the matter.

Looking back, the survival of the blogging industry is almost a miracle. We were attacked from every side, including by mainstream media, which dismissed us as unsubstantiated, unverified and unscrupulous online personalities. Yet the same space they mocked became one of the most powerful channels for public complaints, whistleblowing, accountability and stories that would never have seen daylight elsewhere.

Blogging survived because Kenyans needed somewhere to speak. It survived because many truths first arrive untidy, through ordinary people, victims, insiders and citizens who have no newsroom, no editor and no platform.

The industry was not perfect, but it opened a door that power badly wanted shut.
