Do we extend this sort of understanding to brown terrorists who were radicalised by seeing their families turned to mince by a drone strike on a wedding?
@lambeflores@bearssegi yea apologies my bad, realised after the fact
i’m still of the opinion that aegon was the rightful heir and rhaenyra’s claim was nothing but viserys’ hubris wether book or show but my above comment is show only lore so REDACTED
They gang-raped a Palestinian so brutally he was hospitalised. They did it on camera. When footage leaked, and the rapists were arrested, Israelis rioted to protect them. They said they had the right to rape. The Israeli lawyer who leaked the footage was arrested. This is Israel.
It's not about apologising. They don't owe anyone an apology.
But what Michael B and Delroy DO owe is the same public solidarity with John that anyone claiming to oppose racism should show them.
You don't get to decry bigotry to yourself whilst ignoring it towards others.
i’m actually starting to believe people on this app live in alternate reality. what grace was there when it was a white disabled man? you guys have been THREATENING PHYSICAL VIOLENCE against someone with tourette’s for a week 😭
additionally, the lack of grace toward this black gentlemen is partially YOUR FAULT. it’s exactly what we meant when we said: the ableism you’re espousing about the “baftas tourette’s incident” is exactly what will be weaponized against black and brown disabled people 😭
When John Davidson was 16 years old he talked about killing himself because he felt humiliated by his disability and frustrated by the harm it caused. To have the NAACP Awards openly mocking him for his disability is evil, mean spirited, calloused and ableist.
The past week has not been positive for sufferers of Tourette's, or for John Davidson. Seeing these rich, privileged Hollywood actors bask in their own self-satisfaction and ignorance should be hard for everyone with a brain to swallow.
It didn’t turn into something positive. It turned into a witch-hunt of an innocent disabled man and he should be ashamed to stand there and say that when he has said nothing to calm the deranged actions of those who rushed to his defence.
Considering the last week, a room full of millionaires mocking a working class caretaker with Tourette’s is not a good look. It is not brave. It is not edgy. It is punching down at a disabled man who cannot control his neurological condition. After everything he has endured, that is not comedy. It is cruelty dressed up as it.
@MrsOWalker@WaltonBuzzGT@johndrewmarkley either you want him to avoid black people at all costs in case he tics at them or avoiding them makes him racist ? fucking listen to yourself you twat
I think it is abundantly clear that the elite multimillionaire class love to preach inclusion, acceptance and understanding of disabled people until they are actually confronted with disability.
They will stand on stage and applaud a film about the struggles of living with Tourette’s. They will celebrate the awareness. They will congratulate themselves on being progressive.
But the moment they are faced with the hard, gritty reality of Tourette’s uncensored and unscripted for all to see and hear, the tone changes.
Suddenly they are shocked. Suddenly they are appalled. Suddenly they are not quite as inclusive, accepting or understanding after all.
The mask of virtue slipped.
You invited a man with Tourette’s into the room. You were made aware of his condition. You applauded him. And then when Tourette’s did exactly what Tourette’s does, you recoiled.
You cannot celebrate the story and reject the reality.
Tourette’s is not tidy. It is not convenient. It is not performative. It is neurological. It is involuntary. It does not edit itself for elite comfort.
The irony is this. Tourette’s is louder than ever right now. More people are learning. More people are asking questions. More people are understanding.
You tried to distance yourselves from the reality. Instead you amplified it.
We are all thinking of you Johnny. We are with you. And support for you and for everyone living with Tourette’s is only growing.
You can fuck off anaw!
We get it, being black in the US hasn’t been great.
A guy from a Scottish scheme born with a condition thats seen him beaten half to death with crowbars meets more intersections of oppression than most!
You don’t have a fucking monopoly on oppression!
Its went from "he meant it"
To "he didnt mean it but should apologise"
To "he apologised but not publicly"
To "yeah but people don't think sinners is an important movie"
Just admit you are LOOKING for issues here.
My heart breaks for this man & his loved ones, having to watch all the virtue signalling, ignorant, no nothing bullies attacking him for his disability.
It’s 2026 - & a man is being publicly shamed for his DISABILITY.
Read that again.
