Jihoon is so pretty, right? I watched it (wangsanam) and he was doing really well. The numbers right now are so high and really good too. I contacted Jihoon right before it hit exactly 10 million. Ah, I was like, ‘congratulations!’. I tried to be considerate in my own way.
#LeeJunYoung reveals he was told “Don’t cause trouble for actors who need to succeed” during painful career transition.
Lee Jun-young opened up about the struggles he faced after transitioning from idol to actor, candidly sharing the harsh comments and emotional battles he endured early in his career.
On May 20, a video titled “A collection of stories where younger man Lee Jun-young's charm explodes, who wouldn't fall for him?” was uploaded on Ha Ji-young’s YouTube channel, where the actor reflected on his difficult journey after debuting with U-KISS in 2014.
Lee Jun-young admitted that reality after debut was far from what he had imagined. “I thought that once I debuted, all my worries would be over, but instead of an end, new kids just came and greeted me,” he shared, describing the fierce competition in the industry.
The actor further revealed that despite U-KISS receiving love and support, the group struggled to be viewed as massively successful. “People think there will be many opportunities (for idols), but it depends on the situation,” he said. Lee Jun-young confessed that he continued auditioning repeatedly because giving up felt unbearable. “I felt like a loser if I quit at that point,” he stated.
Speaking about his transition into acting in 2017, Lee Jun-young emotionally recalled the criticism he received from others in the industry. “It was even harsher than that. I was told, ‘Don’t cause trouble for actors who need to succeed.’ It was incredibly hurtful,” he confessed.
When he described his struggles by saying, “I really rolled around there,” Ha Ji-young agreed, saying the expression perfectly captured the hardships of surviving in the entertainment industry.
