Monthly Idol 2
3rd Dev Note!
"Hello. This is 608. 🫡
This summer... wasn’t it really, really, REALLY hot? I’m writing this while sweating even now.
But even that summer is gradually coming to an end.
As always, the developer is hard at work developing the game, except when sleeping and eating.
Hopefully, it’s all coming together nicely....!
Anyway, let’s get right into the development notes.
You can check out the previous development notes here.

📰 | Tier System
Monthly Idol 2 has officially revamped its tier system. The previous PP ranks have been removed and replaced by the new SP tier.

2K followers in our fanbase 🩷
I’m really grateful for each and every one of you here. This started as something small, and seeing it grow like this means more than I can put into words. Thank you for being part of this journey and making it so special. I appreciate you all so much 🫶
Let’s keep growing together, one step at a time 💛
THE NEW ERA COMING SOON
#월간엔터테인먼트 #월간엔터 #MonthlyEntertainment #MonthlyEnter #월간아이돌2 #MonthlyIdol2
👤 | NPC System
The NPC system will be expanded over time.
Planned features:
New NPC generations introduced gradually
Era-based activity cycles (e.g., 2000s → 2010s → 2020s)
Different strengths by region (domestic vs global dominance)
NPCs will act as evolving competitors, keeping the game dynamic and unpredictable.

📰 | Chart System
A new chart system is currently in development, bringing a more detailed and realistic ranking experience to the game.
Players will be able to track songs across multiple chart categories, including HOT100, daily, weekly, and yearly charts. Additional tabs such as global charts and album sales rankings will also be available.
The system will show real-time ranking changes, highlighting increases, decreases, and new entries, allowing players to easily monitor each song’s performance and popularity.

⚡ | New Schedule System
Instead of assigning schedules to all characters at once, you will now choose which character goes to each activity.
Lower company levels will have less maximum energy, meaning some characters may have to stay idle.
👗 | Outfit & Stage Costume System
Every song will now have its own saved stage outfit.
Daily clothes and stage costumes will be separated.
Stage outfits will be stored per song and reused for performances.
Visual comparisons will also be possible.
(Features mentioned here may change before release.)
And thank you to all the managers. 😊
Your feedback in the comments has helped add many satisfying features.
Even silly ideas are welcome, so feel free to suggest anything you want.
This is one of the charms of indie games after all 😋
In this development note I introduced the Producing System.
In the next one, I hope to introduce:
The music chart system
The schedule system
Possibly the actor system
If features change or are added, I’ll update the development notes from time to time, so feel free to drop by anytime.
Thank you very much for reading this long post!
Finally, let me promote Living Alone 3!
Your gameplay helps indie developers a lot.
Thank you! 🙇♀️🙇♀️🙇♀️"
Now production is divided into four stages:
1. Album Planning
2. Music Production
3. Stage Production
4. Showcase (Release)
Also, instead of schedules automatically advancing one week, time now progresses by consuming energy.
You can adjust production schedules depending on your energy.
(If an artist never uses energy… protest trucks might appear in front of your company 😢)
Creating an Album
Press “Create Album” and select an artist.
Solo artists can release albums
Actors can also produce albums
A Producing tab will then be created for that artist.
Here you can manage:
Album production
Promotions
Producing evaluations
Promotion buffs
More promotional content will be added in the future.
Album Production Stages
Album Planning
This step has been simplified for new players.
Choose:
Album type
Genre
Theme
Now any artist type (idol, band, singer, actor) can choose any genre.
Example:
Idols doing hip-hop
Bands performing K-pop
However, genre and theme compatibility matters, so keep that in mind.
Pink items in the theme tab indicate this year’s trend.
Trends will also affect dramas and movies, not just albums.
Managers will accompany the artists again this time.
Music Production
A tracklist system has been added.
You can now include B-side tracks, not just the title track.
Album formats:
Single: 1 title track
Mini album: 1 title + 1 B-side (2 total)
Full album: 1 title + 2 B-sides (3 total)
Repackage: Original 3 tracks + 1 new title track (4 total)
Busy players can simply select the title track only if they want.
You can also add tracks by pressing Add B-side.
Production staff can be chosen freely.
Trainees can now participate in production, meaning you can use them as:
Producers
Choreographers
Other staff roles
Even if they never debut.
Special events during recording may occur depending on the vocal stat of the character in the recording studio.
I tried adding simple Animal Crossing–style voices, but…
they still need a lot of polishing 😅
Special events like this will appear as animations.
Stage Production
I wanted to finish this before writing Development Note 2, but unfortunately I couldn't.
I’ll update this section once it’s completed.
6. NPCs
NPCs will appear in many kinds of content.
They will:
Release albums
Appear on variety shows
Act in dramas
They can become:
Chart competitors
Judges
Variety show panelists
Allies
Rivals
Or even close relationships 💕
You can increase intimacy with NPCs through producing and schedules.
7. Intimacy System
The intimacy system has been expanded with more detail.
A memory log records events between two characters.
Previously, intimacy mainly increased by giving gifts.
Now you can build relationships through:
Shared schedules
Vacations
Activities together
On the NPC intimacy screen you can read their detailed profiles.
The NPCs shown above will appear as competitors on the album charts.
If two characters share things like:
The same hometown
The same high school
special events may occur.
You can also create pair names (ship names) that fans might use.
Previously characters increased intimacy by bumping into each other and chatting.
Now it happens naturally during rest time.
If you want to farm intimacy, build many lounges.
Characters usually talk about shared interests.
If their interests don’t match, intimacy can decrease.
If there’s a foreign character, they sometimes talk about their home country — which they really like.
Gotcha, didn’t I? 😉
Thank you for reading. 👍
That’s all for this development note.
When I’m developing I often think,
“Wow, I made a lot!”
But after organizing everything into a dev note I end up thinking,
“Wait… is this all I did?” 🫠
Still, if the first steps are done poorly everything could collapse later, so I’m proceeding carefully and thoughtfully.
Even if development seems slow, please know that I’m building things step by step...
Monthly Idol 2
2nd Dev Note!
Dev Note 2!
"Hello. This is 608. 🫡
It has already been three months since I posted the last development note.
I don’t know how time passed so quickly.
During that time, I’ve been stuck in an endless development loop of:
Living Alone → Monthly Idol → Living Alone → Monthly Idol.
Still, I’m really happy that development has progressed enough for me to write Development Note 2.
You can check the previous development note here.

Development Note Begins
1. Portrait / Landscape Mode Support
This may seem obvious, but since the recently released Living Alone 3 does not support landscape mode, many people asked about it.
So I’d like to clarify in advance:
Phones: Portrait mode only
Tablets & Pads: Both portrait and landscape modes supported
(Screen layout and graphics may change later.)
2. Building Upgrades & Artist Placement
The building has 7 floors, and up to 12 artists can be assigned.
This feature existed in the previous Monthly Entertainment, but some players had difficulty understanding it.
So the UI has been redesigned to be more intuitive, and the controls simplified.
You can now immediately check the assigned floor from the character card.
Also, expanding the number of floors requires a special currency obtained only from concerts.
I’ll explain this in more detail in a future development note about concerts.
When you upgrade the building, it gradually grows taller — up to 7 floors.
3. Artist Information Window
After many revisions, the system has been organized into three types:
Main
Unit
Solo
Main
Same concept as in Monthly Entertainment.
These are the core artists of the game.
Unit
Now you can create units with characters from different groups.
If possible, I plan to add the ability to create units with NPCs in the future.
Just like creating artists, you can choose between:
Idol
Band
Singer
Actor
Units remain active at all times, and you can resume activities through producing or schedules whenever you want.
Solo
Since solo activities have been strengthened, this menu helps you manage individual artists more easily.
When selected, you can immediately see the artist’s personal information, and the group name will be displayed above their name.
(Artists who have not debuted yet will have gray cards.)
Member Order Setting
In previous Monthly series games, characters had fixed order positions.
Now, you can freely rearrange member order yourself.
Since idol groups can have up to 24 members, it can be difficult to display everyone on one screen.
So you can place your important members at the top.
This works via drag and drop.
You can also customize the information displayed on character cards:
Position
Background information
You can even set dual nationality.
4. Positions
Idol
Groups can have up to 24 members.
Due to player requests, a new Lead position has been added.
Leader: Only 1 per group
Center: Only 1 per group
One member can be both Leader and Center
Other roles like Vocalist / Dancer / Rapper can overlap.
Band
Bands can have up to 5 members.
Leader: 1 per group
Main Vocal: 1 per group
Center: Automatically assigned to the Main Vocal
Vocal and instrument positions can overlap.
Example: You can have 3 guitarists.
Singer
Position restrictions are minimal so managers can freely design concepts.
Examples:
Dance singer
Trot singer
Rapper
Indie singer
You can set positions however you want and proceed with album activities.
Actor
Only one position exists: Acting.
You can progress without setting it, but it’s recommended because you receive position buffs.
5. Producing
Previously, you chose all concepts at once in the producing menu and immediately jumped into production.
For new players, this could feel overwhelming.
Since the new game has more features than the previous one, a more structured production process was needed...
Entrevistadora: Você já manifestou algo?
#JENNIE: Sim.
