For the first time, Armenian tomatoes are expected to be exported to Europe this July.

The Armenian agricultural company Prom Group has purchased 20 new Volvo transport trucks for the export of produce to Europe. They are currently in the process of completing the construction of a new modern 10 hectare greenhouse complex equipped with robotic system and artificial intelligence to ensure the best possible produce is grown and harvested.

At full operation capacity, at least 25 tons of tomatoes can be harvested per day for the European market. As business grows, the company plans to purchase 30 more trucks.

Armenian Football Legend Henrikh Mkhitaryan Returns to Pyunik, Where It All Began, Inspiring a New Generation 🇦🇲

Henrikh Mkhitaryan returned home to the Yerevan club where his career began, welcomed by a swarm of young Armenian fans chanting his name. With his mother and son at his side, he left his handprint and footprint beneath the club’s “Tree of Glory.” The day brought a gift, a tribute to his late father, and hours spent among the children who now dream of walking the same path that made him the greatest footballer in Armenian history.

“Welcome home, Henrikh,” Pyunik wrote, greeting the return of its famous academy graduate. The homecoming event kicked off on June 19 at the Pyunik sports base in Yerevan, where players from the club’s youth teams turned out to welcome him. He greeted them, then presented his Inter Milan jersey to the club.

“I welcome everyone. I am grateful to the football club, the director, all those present, the children. You can’t imagine how proud I am here, my feelings are very high, I am very happy. I am very excited. It is always nice to return to where everything began. In that honor, I want to present a jersey to the Pyunik football club, on which it is written: everything began with Pyunik,” said Mkhitaryan.

The program included a screening of a short film dedicated to his career, featuring archive footage of his performances for his clubs and the Armenian national team alongside visual materials marking the key stages of his journey. After the screening, an open dialogue followed, where Mkhitaryan spoke with the young footballers and shared stories about his path in the game, his career, and his experience competing at the highest level.

The event also honored the memory of Hamlet Mkhitaryan, Henrikh's father and an outstanding figure of Armenian football in his own right. A striker, he scored 46 goals for Ararat Yerevan in the Soviet Top League during the 1980s before moving to France to play in Ligue 2 for ASOA Valence, and earned two caps for Armenia in 1994. His career was cut short by a brain tumor in 1995, and he died the following year. Mkhitaryan, Pyunik representatives, and the participants observed a minute of silence in his memory.

A Pyunik academy graduate, Mkhitaryan is the Inter Milan midfielder and all-time top scorer of the Armenian national team. He came up through Pyunik before going on to play for Shakhtar Donetsk, Borussia Dortmund, Manchester United, Arsenal, Roma, and Inter, becoming one of the most decorated footballers in Armenian history. After the event, a huge queue formed for his autograph.

Lake Sevan Rises at Its Fastest Pace Since 1993, Up 11 Centimeters in Just 15 Days 🇦🇲

Armenia's largest freshwater lake, Lake Sevan, is rising at a pace not seen in more than three decades. The lake climbed 11 centimeters between June 1 and 15, the fastest first-half-of-June rise since 1993, said Gagik Surenyan, Deputy Director of the Hydrometeorology and Monitoring Center. He said the surge was driven by river inflow and heavy precipitation.

The gains stretch back to the start of the year. Sevan has risen 46 centimeters since the beginning of 2026, reaching 1,900 meters and 69 centimeters above sea level as of June 16, according to official data from the Hydrometeorology and Monitoring Center of Armenia's Ministry of Environment. The climb, up from 1,900 meters and 23 centimeters in mid-January, has been driven by a combination of a wet spring and steady water transfers through the Arpa-Sevan tunnel, putting the lake on a clear upward path heading into summer.

The Arpa-Sevan tunnel has been central to that recovery. From the beginning of the year through June 14, the system transferred 113.991 million cubic meters of water into the lake, including 10.835 million cubic meters during the June 8 to 14 stretch alone. Over that same week, Sevan rose 7 centimeters to reach 1,900.68 meters, the center reported. The current level sits 6 centimeters below where it stood on the same day last year but remains 46 centimeters above the January 1 mark.

A certain increase in discharge has also been observed in the rivers flowing into the lake, the center said. For now, water releases from Sevan through the Hrazdan River for irrigation are not being carried out, easing the drawdown that typically accompanies the summer growing season.

The latest readings build on a strong spring. Days of intense rainfall earlier in June replenished Armenia's water resources across multiple provinces, pushing the country's major reservoirs to near-full levels and lifting Sevan further. The Aparan Reservoir filled to 100 percent for the first time since 2011, a development that feeds the Arzni-Shamiram canal and reduces how much water has to be drawn from Sevan, easing pressure on the overall water balance. Levon Azizyan, Director of the Hydrometeorology and Monitoring Center, said spring precipitation reached about 198 millimeters, or 131 percent of the norm, helping restore soil moisture and replenish surface and groundwater.

Sevan is the main source of fresh water in Armenia and one of the largest high-altitude lakes in Europe and Asia, sitting at roughly 1,900 meters above sea level. The Hrazdan River originates from the lake, and 28 rivers flow into it. Under the state program for the restoration of Sevan's ecosystem, the lake's level is targeted to reach an optimal 1,903.5 meters, leaving the current reading still nearly three meters short of the long-term goal even after this year's gains.

This story literally gave me chills. Inside the Monastery of Santa Ana and San Jose in Córdoba, Spain, there is an ancient crucifix known as the Cross of Forgiveness.

Unlike traditional depictions, this image of Christ shows His right arm detached from the wood and lowered toward the ground.

The origin of this unique posture is tied to a powerful legend.

It is said that a regular penitent once knelt before the cross to confess his sins.

The priest, frustrated by the man’s repeated failings, granted absolution but issued a stern warning: "This is the last time I will forgive you."

When the man eventually returned to the confessional, broken by his weakness once more, the priest refused to offer him grace.

At that moment, the monastery fell silent, broken only by the sound of wood creaking.

The right arm of Jesus miraculously detached from the cross and made the sign of the cross over the sinner.

A divine voice echoed through the chapel: "It was I who shed my blood for this soul, not you."

To this day, the arm remains lowered, an enduring testament to the depth of divine mercy and the promise of endless forgiveness.

As Armenian hostages remain imprisoned in Azerbaijan, a new humanitarian initiative launched by Veronika Zonabend, the wife of Ruben Vardanyan, is seeking to deliver messages of solidarity from around the world to those being held in detention.

The campaign aims to ensure that Armenian hostages remain connected to the outside world and know they have not been forgotten, while providing a channel for supporters to express solidarity with those still being held in captivity.

According to Zonabend, maintaining such connections is essential to preserving the dignity of those being held.

“It is an attempt to restore at least a minimal connection between those in detention, their families, and all those who care about their fate. Such a connection helps a person preserve their dignity, and without dignity, it is impossible to speak of genuine and lasting peace between neighbouring peoples,” she said.

Over the next two weeks, organizers will collect letters of support and seek to deliver them alongside family care packages as part of the humanitarian initiative.

Letters may be submitted in any language by email to [email protected] with the subject line: “Letter of Support – Armenian Detainees.”

Those writing to a specific hostage are asked to include the individual's name in the subject line.

Zonabend also announced that the names of the women who will participate in the delegation responsible for delivering the letters and care packages will be made public at a later date.

. Go to Sacramental Confession (within about 20 days before or after)
. Receive Holy Communion (ideally on the day itself)
