Abkhazia's Cassation Court has published its motivation for overturning Khajimba's re-election and ordering a new vote.
The core issue is discussed towards the end, and seems crystal clear to me.
tldr: A majority of votes was cast against Khajimba.

@DanielBoffey The angle of this story is plain wrong. Belgian beers are not on the whole particularly hoppy, so this is not about them. The researchers seem to have American-style IPAs in mind.
Well that didn't last long. Kan Kvarchia has withdrawn his candidacy, so now young Economy Minister Adgur Ardzinba will represent the outgoing government in a direct confrontation with opposition leader Aslan Bzhania. #Abkhazia#Caucasus

Now that the Cassation Court has ordered a new election, in which Khajimba won't run, that plan has been fast-forwarded, and Kvarchia was nominated yesterday.
An open question is to what extent he will distance himself from the outgoing government.

@mck_beth It's an excellent article, but the following isn't true:
"Idlib is the only part of the country that remains outside Assad’s de facto control"
This seems incredibly shortsighted, since Ukraine's moral claim to Crimea hinges on the support it enjoys from the Tatar population.

Last year, the failure of Bzhania and Ankvab's opposition wings to join forces until the very last minute probably cost them the election. Today's agreement indicates they have learned that lesson. 3/3

After Ankvab's ouster as President in 2014, Bzhania was the candidate representing the deposed government, but when he ran again last year, Ankvab initially supported his own surrogate candidate. 2/3

When Kan Kvarchia became mayor of Sukhum last year, he embarked on a campaign of high-profile initiatives, like paying for new palm trees out of his own pocket, that suggested a plan to succeed Raul Khajimba as president in 2024. #Abkhazia#Caucasus
Vice President Aslan Bartsits has also resigned, and Khajimba will not participate in the new election. Prime Minister Valeri Bganba will serve as Acting President, just as in 2014
Raul Khajimba resigned as President of Abkhazia, following a ruling by the Cassation Court that last year's election was invalid and protests calling for his immediate resignation, despite earlier vows to appeal the ruling and stay on as acting President

@TxTbUk I'm catching up with the tblpod and I noticed there haven't been any recent updates. I hope you're doing well and you'll be able to pick it up again!
Not to mention that since Abkhazia has a strongly presidential system, you'd have to provide some sort of explanation as to why someone would deem the Prime Minister so important that they would want to kill him AND do a full cover-up
