We are deeply grateful for the growing love and support from our community. However, this popularity has also attracted the attention of scammers and thieves. Following a recent incident of NFT theft, we've been approached by new victims from time to time, highlighting the need for a unified response plan.
In the morning of April 7th, a team member's 35 Soul Series NFTs were stolen. By the time the theft was discovered the next day, only a few NFTs had been sold by the thief. After careful consideration, we quickly implemented a response plan. We modified the images and traits of the stolen items to prevent further misuse and checked the NFTs that had been traded before our announcement to avoid harming innocent players.
On April 9th, we issued a public announcement and requested marketplaces like OpenSea, Blur, and OKX to freeze the stolen items and to consider banning their listing. Additionally, we issued warnings through our community channels, Twitter, and other platforms, outlining our response and establishing a blueprint for handling future incidents of NFT theft. Our plan was widely disseminated by the media once confirmed.
We promptly reached out to Blur to address the stolen assets and were informed that Blur does not freeze stolen assets. However, they mentioned that users could choose to bid based on traits.
Despite measures in place, there were still instances of incidentally bids on stolen assets, for which we express our deepest regret. We are earnestly seeking better solutions to combat NFT theft and encourage those purchasing NFTs to pay closer attention and familiarise themselves more with Seraph. For players who bid on stolen NFTs after our announcement, we sincerely apologize for your loss.
