The accusation that Iranian accounts and activists who operate anonymously against the Islamic Republic are linked to Israel, and specifically to Mossad, is the same allegation the Islamic Republic has used to justify the execution of more than 20 people in 2026 alone.

While it is true that in this case the account operates from outside Iran, repeating this fabricated charge and giving it legitimacy is exactly what the Islamic Republic welcomes. The simple reason is that it helps them secure external validation for their own crimes.

When that validation comes from someone closely connected to American political figures, it makes the space for activists facing such accusations even more dangerous and intimidating.

It is worth noting that as of today, many individuals behind both anonymous and identifiable accounts inside Iran are still in prison or on death row under the same pretext.

This is not just online rhetoric. It has real consequences for real lives.

If you do know them, then this tweet reflects a fundamental misunderstanding of the history of the MEK.

This organization was an active supporter of the 1979 Revolution, backed Khomeini, participated in the U.S. Embassy takeover, and defended some of the most extreme anti American positions of that era. Their later conflict with the Islamic Republic was not rooted in opposition to the regime’s ideology, but in a struggle for power.

For that reason, presenting such figures as part of the “Iranian opposition” offers a deeply misleading picture of Iran’s political reality.

The United States has first said to the protester on the streets that “the help is ok the way” and that they’re “locked and loaded”.
