Once, while arguing with their landlord over the phone, an admin blurted out "it's not a real job" and their landlord started breathing really heavily and yelling "YES IT IS, YES IT IS"
“We’ve been paying this rent increase up until then … I shot that back to my real estate agent and said, ‘hey, I think it is invalid because of this’ and it turned out that they didn’t want to go to VCAT and they just gave me seven months of back pay,” the renter said.
As moronic as responding to negative reviews like this is, it's worth acknowledging BARS Real Estate for their transparency regarding the role of real estate agents: they operate to exploit tenants on behalf of landlords.
While we get exploited, ripped off, threatened, and blacklisted... they get “cautions."
Despite thousands of complaints from tenants, and hundreds of cases of malpractice by landlords and real estate businesses in the past two years, no one has been prosecuted.
The RTA has made it clear that they won’t be coming to our rescue in this crisis. Only we have the ability to make real change happen. And, while it may seem daunting at times, we have power in numbers and solidarity.

The fact that a rich landlord can ignore a court’s ruling and refuse to pay his former tenant is yet more proof that the system is rigged in their favour—and the only thing that will work for us is to join together in collective action against those who exploit us.
One of our members, a single mum of disabled children, has been ripped off by her former landlord to the sum of $7490.57.
Last week, our union sent him this letter.
We publish this letter now with names redacted to announce the beginning of a public campaign against this landlord—until our member is paid what she’s owed, and this ordeal can finally end for her.
This is the way things are—and they will continue to be that way until we organise ourselves as a tenant class and fight back collectively.

We're building tenant power by getting organised as a class, in direct struggle against our common enemy: landlords and real estate agents.

Don't believe @RayWhiteGroup's bullshit.
The rental crisis has nothing to do with supply and demand. Hundreds of thousands of homes remain empty and available for people to live in.
The issue isn’t a lack of supply, it's a lack of tenant power. (1/10)
