Moments after introducing myself as Dr. *last name*
Patient’s SO: “thanks, *first name*”
Me: “Dr. *last name*”
Pt’s SO: “Dr. *first name*”
Me: “my last name is pronounced **”
The gender bias in medicine is exhausting.
SO read my badge, ignores the DOCTOR part 😔
Slept for 4 of my 24 hours at work and apparently when my senior resident tried to wake me to prepare for sign out I told her no and went back to sleep. I have no memory of this. This is not going to end well for me
@SBowersMD Med student here— would hold the door open for people, panic when someone asks me to recite a recipe, and somehow manage to drop the silverware. 👶
I don't think we should tell med students that there is only ONE specialty that they belong in. Too much pressure.
I probably would have been happy with med/peds, GI, or CL psych. It's more a matter of "can you stomach the worst stuff" than "do you like the good stuff", imo.
Medicine/medical training is a black box so failing to match means emotionally spiraling as a failure because of the amount of times you have to explain what happened to family/friends
