Interesting FIBUS ('false insights & beliefs under psychedelics') theory – a few immediate thoughts:
1. It's premised on predictive processing theory which itself is highly controversial to say the least, possibly false, certainly insufficient.
2. FIBUS is a proposed aetiology of falsity, rather than a criterion of falsity. So it cannot actually determine which specific psychedelic-induced beliefs are false, whether they be panpsychism, physicalism, idealism, etc.
3. Relatedly, the schemata of fig. 3 cannot aid determination of falsity because it has veridicality and falsifiability as 2 of its 3 dimensions, without explanation as to how these dimensions can be determined. Moreover, falsifiability does not apply to metaphysics, as Popper (a dualist and Platonist) who created the notion made clear. (Sensory data is insufficient for metaphysics as it is for mathematics.) So it seems that psychedelic-induced metaphysical experiences cannot be placed in this schemata contrary to part of its function (of 'epistemic hygiene').
4. The Adaptiveness axis of the schemata could be a useful tool to develop for psychedelic therapy – if possible (as different people may find different beliefs adaptive).
