@pitchblackpark I don't think a budget could help here. They'd need to really restructure how they write characters because an enormous amount of them this year were either one-off or their only development was really poorly received.
@pitchblackpark Oh no, they're not going to be doing 10 heroes next year. If anything they're going to do 5 and maybe cool it a bit with how they handle lore drops. I don't expect a Webtoon season 2 and instead they just lean harder on motion comics/cinematics.
@pitchblackpark That's why it's a Webtoon and not anything else in the lore. Blizzard has limited control over it so they're basically trying to make it so everything important folds into the main lore/doesn't matter, and the interactions are likely just filler.
@pitchblackpark It is difficult to avoid not feeling cynical about it because Wuyang wasn't even a year into the game when the Webtoon started and this is the first arc they try to start with him, especially when fans already in-that-time established their own view of him.
@pitchblackpark We can only wait and see, although most of the response I've seen to the interaction has been negative. There's positivity, sure, but it seems like specifically Juno and Wuyang fans it's unpopular.
@crytziri The Webtoon isn't even over, it got 3 episodes added onto it... but it feels very much like they intended for it from the start to be a 'big surprise' but it got next to zero fanfare and just groans. Every Wednesday virtually nobody mentions it.
A bit of an image to try and make sense of the Milkywave/MizuYang situation. Honestly, instead of blaming each other I would blame Blizzard for trying to push it in a really manufactured way. I don't think a lot of people are even arguing ships in this conflict.
@crytziri Don't get the timeline confused. The Webtoon didn't start off as bad for the ship, but it grew to be that way until it basically ruined the entire reputation of the Webtoon.
(Also, that swimming interaction is similar to one Juno has with Kiriko and Anran, sooo....)
@JoseC90004@Aldathlecarde2@monaka_1__1 I don't agree with that... it's already a really poisoned well and depending on how Blizzard handles it, it ain't going to be slow at all. My only hope is that this is just one they recorded and already slotted and it's a plot point they won't address again.
@JoseC90004@Aldathlecarde2@monaka_1__1 I'm saying that with how fast it happened and the circumstances of it being put into the Webtoon, rather than done more slowly, indicates it may have been a marketing stunt for the Webtoon, which does lean a bit towards a young adult userbase.
@crytziri The interaction came out this midseason but it was likely slotted possibly before the Webtoon started, so I wonder if they're just gonna throw it out as soon as they get the chance since the Webtoon bombed.
@crytziri I think it's already too late for it, to be honest. Like, at this point I would rather they just drop it so an attempt at a 'cease fire' can happen, because otherwise it's just a forever argument that won't ever leave the two communities.
@crytziri It wasn't the most popular ship before the Webtoon but it was at least a bit civil outside of pretty unnecessary arguing. Blizzard basically set off a powder keg, and likely just to market the Webtoon (that seems to have flopped).
@chumoc_ow We'll have to see how long it sticks around. Blizzard already has a history of having lines recorded and set up a long time in advance, so this was possibly set up before the Webtoon...well, basically bombed. It's more likely it's especially before the shitstorm of Ep 31.
@JoseC90004@Aldathlecarde2@monaka_1__1 You kind of need to make it clear before they start trying to push it, as these sorts of things have a lot of red tape and so if they are already trying to get the ball rolling you need to make it clear early.
@JoseC90004@Aldathlecarde2@monaka_1__1 I personally wonder if they simply had a ton of interactions already recorded in massive bulk and just had scheduled to go up at certain times during the year, as that would explain almost all the Webtoon ones. Also means they're probably quick to go too.
@JoseC90004@Aldathlecarde2@monaka_1__1 That's where I do put my effort. I don't attack Milkywave fans. More or less everything I make focuses Blizzard on the one pushing it and trying to highlight how unpopular it is of a decision.
