Dear Serbia, you have made your voice heard!
After nearly two years of protests for democracy, the rule of law and the fight against corruption, Serbians turned out in historic numbers.
Congratulations to the Student List on your victory!
These are the very values at the heart of our European Union.
A new chapter can begin for Serbia. The door to the EU is open, and we are ready to move forward together.
I have just spoken by phone with the leaders of the Students' List @studentblokade, who won the elections in Serbia, to congratulate them on their victory. I assured them of Hungary’s support. I was delighted to hear how much strength our victory in April had given them during this difficult struggle.
Speaking at the Student List’s election headquarters after its victory, academic and candidate Radomir Saičić said “the voice of freedom” could be heard tonight. Citizens had shown that no obstacle was greater than their determination.
“No fear is stronger than their courage, and no force can forever overpower a people determined to take their destiny into their own hands,” he said.
He thanked citizens for “every step, every hour, every sacrifice and every moment when you chose not to give up”.
“This victory is no one’s personal trophy. It belongs to all of us. But, dear Serbia, a great victory brings great responsibility,” Saičić said, urging citizens to celebrate peacefully, with dignity and pride, and not to give in to provocations.
Vučić said SNS had won 1.72 million votes, while the Student List had received around 2.2 million.
Celebrations have already begun on the streets of Belgrade. 🎆
ALEKSANDAR VUČIĆ CONCEDES DEFEAT.
Aleksandar Vučić said the Student List had won the most seats in the election, based on a stratified sample.
“We don’t have the results. Many people will be surprised, and you will realise just how much some people have lied. Based on a stratified sample, it is clear that we have lost this election,” Vučić said.
Snap parliamentary elections were held in Serbia today amidst a backdrop of intense political tension, following nearly two years of widespread student-led anti-corruption protests. What marked the election day?

Student List held their first press conference, saying vote counting had begun and that. According to their figures, 4.35 million people had voted.
Speaking on behalf of the Student List, Serbian basketball legend and parliamentary candidate Dejan Bodiroga urged citizens to remain in their towns and cities. He also called on Belgrade residents to avoid the city centre, where growing numbers of police and masked individuals were visible.
“We must not allow anyone to jeopardise what citizens have fought for in these final hours,” Bodiroga said.
Widespread photographing of ballot papers, suspected pressure on voters and cases of voting without valid identification or on behalf of others marked election day in Serbia, according to @CRTArs observation mission.
At the press conference, CRTA programme director Raša Nedeljkov warned that scrutiny would remain crucial as the process moved to counting votes and reporting results.
Voters were seen photographing ballot papers at half of polling stations across Serbia and 80% of those in Belgrade, CRTA programme director Raša Nedeljkov said, warning of an unprecedented scale of practices that could be linked to pressure on voters.
Voting without valid identification was recorded at 8% of polling stations, while people voting on behalf of others were observed at 13%. Observers also reported cases of vote buying, multiple voting and polling board members directly violating ballot secrecy.

🚨Videos circulating on social media show masked men dressed in black gathering around Pionirski Park, known as “Ćacilend”, a pro-government encampment in central Belgrade. Police are deployed nearby. Students have urged people to avoid the area.
This is concerning: dozens of men in black hoodies said to be SNS supporters are gathering in downtown Belgrade after riot police were deployed in the same area earlier today.
The Student List has asked its supporters to avoid confrontation and stay safe.
Students have urged Belgrade residents on social media to avoid gathering near locations where an increased presence of police and individuals in plain clothes has been observed.
“Let us remain safe, peaceful and dignified until the end,” they said.
The appeal comes amid a heightened police presence in central Belgrade. Riot police have been stationed outside the Republic Electoral Commission, while gendarmerie vehicles equipped for crowd control have been parked near the Presidency.
