Cristiano Ronaldo's sister liked an Instagram post saying:
"Cristiano doesn't have to stay as a sign of his love for the club, the biggest proof of that is that he's back at United having had an offer from City with a much superior team and coach and in recent history. "
Should performance enhancing drugs be made legal? Would it allow for safer regulation and use and save money on drug testing? Interesting debate #Mod6#Ethics https://t.co/zi3aHdYFdc
Ethical arguments against doping are: doping is cheating/unfair, it causes short/long term harm for the health of athletes who are doping, it harms their reputation and career, and affects society, especially children and young adults who respect athletes as their role models
Considering the amount of successful long distance Kenyan runners, there seems to be high amount of their athletes involved in illegal doping - which begs the question, is this intentional or is there an education aspect to this problem??

World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) states that it is the athleteโฒs responsibility to ensure no prohibited substance or its metabolite or marker are in the samples..
What about the the responsibilities to educate poorer economical countries surrounding anti-doping regulations #mod6
A study found that " Kenyan athletesโ knowledge of banned substances to be as follows: 42% reported a low level of knowledge, 26% reported a medium level of knowledge and 30% reported a high level of knowledge"
#mod6
"Kenya has almost no controls in place to prevent doping. It's easy for the athletes to get banned drugs"
"Most athletes do not have enough information to make the right choices"

? In the industry of sports where athlete information is routinely shared, it may be that become de-sensitized to the patientโs right to confidentiality? #mod6
Its true the openness of sports medicine treatment is
compounded by the design of treatment facilities in sport which conventionally have little regard for athlete-patientsโ privacy #mod6
Should the coach know about the health care status of each athlete to best plan team success? Does that burden then fall on the team physician who maintains player confidentiality? A common occurrence in sports medicine I'd say ๐ค #mod6
Interesting.... Is it ethical to disclose information without the consent of an Athlete? On the other hand, would it not be equally unethical not to inform the team that they are about to give a scholarship to an athlete whose career is precarious at best? #mod6
@DrNeilLafferty@sem_lori@komal_fatiimah@komal_fatiimah "You should, however, usually abide by the patientโs refusal to consent to disclosure, even if their decision leaves them (but no one else) at risk of death or serious harm" (GMC)
Is it better for employment contracts to state that athletes have a duty of honesty as opposed to confidentiality? Should contracts state that we must disclose information to coaches? #mod6
