Why is defining Islamophobia so controversial?
Sky's @serenabarksing explains why British Muslims say without a specific definition of Islamophobia, crimes can often go underreported.
A long-awaited definition of Islamophobia is expected within weeks - and a former faith minister is urging the government to adopt it in full.

Highest ever polling for the greens in a Westminster poll.
Fair to say @ZackPolanski had a decent first month as leader.
The Labour brand is at a nadir, and the greens are seizing the opportunity.
A Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government spokesperson said:
"Ministers are grateful to the Working Group for their work over the last six months to provide their important advice, now submitted to the department.
"With anti-Muslim hate incidents at a record high, the group's advice is timely and crucial to tackling hatred and extremism wherever it may occur.
"And as we have made clear, this is about protecting people, not religions. We will always defend freedom of speech including fiercely protecting the right to criticise, express dislike of, or insult religions and the beliefs and practices of those who follow them. This will remain at the front of our minds when we review the definition.”
"It's hard to avoid that conclusion given how often his words and actions drift into racism."
Is Nigel Farage racist?
Equalities Minister Bridget Phillipson says he is.

Starmer uncharacteristically punchy on #bbclaurak
:: Reform's deportation policy is 'racist'
:: Critics should stop 'navel gazing' and 'give me space'
:: The Left have 'got it wrong' on immigration for years
:: I'm going nowhere and will be judged 'at the end of five years'
The BBC, in association with Agence France-Presse, the Associated Press, and Reuters, has launched a short film calling on the Israeli authorities to allow international journalists access to Gaza.

Interesting timing as speculation mounts that the party position has shifted
🚨 The elections watchdog is NOT reopening its investigation into Labour Together and Morgan McSweeney after Conservative calls for it this week.
They found “no evidence of any other potential offences”.
An Electoral Commission spokesperson said:
“We investigated the late reporting of donations by Labour Together and published our findings in 2021. We determined multiple offences including those relating to the late reporting of donations with a cumulative value of £739,492, as well as the failure to appoint a responsible person. The fine was significant and reflects the seriousness of the offences determined, for which no reasonable excuse was put forward.
"Earlier this week the Conservative Party wrote to us with concerns that other offences had been committed. We have thoroughly reviewed this information and found no evidence of any other potential offences. We are confident that the initial determination and sanction were appropriate.
“We are therefore not reopening the investigation.”
