Day 35: building the todo app that Iโve always wanted
โ multiple locations per task
โ nagging reminders
โ dynamic todo list -> Nearby, Overdue, Upcoming
โ neumorph everything
if youโd like to try it, send me your email through: https://t.co/h7G7bmIJYa
iOS only for now
I'd be lying if I said that I haven't touched the code.
It still requires quite a bit of handholding when it's stuck.
But I've got to give props, it cooked with the offline-first part ๐จโ๐ณ
THere's still a lot of work ahead tho
Day 10: of vibe coding a location heavy todo app.
~40 h in so far
Done some heavy stuff:
โ Offline-first
โ Apple/Google/Email/Guest auth
โ Time reminders
โ One task -> many locations
โ Notifications
Todo:
โ๏ธ Proper design
โ๏ธ Sub-tasks
โ๏ธ Monetization
โ๏ธ Launch??
1/2
Result:
* It has setup the project structure
* hooked up Supabase
* built Auth screens
* asked me for missing pieces like API keys etc.
~20 minutes of back and forth and I was able to login, create my first task, and see it appear in Supabase
Pretty impressive! ๐ฅ
I'm trying to build a semi-complex todo app and I'm using Cursor...ONLY Cursor
Although I can code, I'm curious to see how far this can go
I'll post regular updates to document how this works, starting with today 1/3
Day 1:
* Picked gpt-5 (it's cheaper)
* Added a https://t.co/bZMvObUHHJ file with clear documentation, instructions and tech stack
* Told it to go step-by-step from the doc and build (it should stop after each step so I can approve/reject the changes) 2/3
When 2 groups of penguins meet on the road, they stop for a short exchange of information. When one of them moves in with the wrong group, a friend goes after him to bring him back๐๐ง๐ง๐ง
Still believe that 90% of apps can be created with RN or flutter. Cheap and fast. Apple could at least Sherlock the hot reload feature to improve devs lives. Also, just do what you like I guess ๐คทโโ๏ธ
Please don't derail your career with React Native. I took a year off from iOS Development in 2018 to pursue a project that used RN. It was nothing but a year of frustration.
The end result will not be anything you're proud of.
Spare yourself.
Sincerely,
Your Elder
