Earlier this week at SatelliteAsia, during Asia Tech x Singapore 2026, I joined “The Future of Investment & Innovation in Space” panel.

The final question was: What needs to happen in the next 24 months to unlock the next phase of growth in Space?

My answer, beyond jokes: Humanity may badly need an encounter with an alien civilization.

Peaceful scenario: we get the ultimate technology transfer and accelerate toward becoming a multi-planetary civilization.

Not-so-peaceful scenario: we finally remember that our internal conflicts are small compared with the responsibility of defending Earth as one species.

Yes, it was partly provocative. But the serious point is this:

The Space economy does not only need more satellites, rockets, capital, and regulation.

It needs a bigger civilizational reason to move faster.

Space is no longer just a sector.

It is becoming strategic infrastructure for connectivity, resilience, intelligence, security, climate monitoring, remote operations, and human expansion.

The next 24 months should not only be about deploying more assets in orbit.

They should be about building the political will, commercial discipline, public-private cooperation, and long-term capital structures needed to turn Space from narrative into infrastructure.

One way or another, humanity needs to start thinking less like separate markets — and more like one planetary civilization preparing for what comes next.
