Today we are righting yet another historical injustice. From now on, here in the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra, a bust of a great Ukrainian and patron of the Lavra, Ivan Mazepa, will stand, as it rightfully should.

For centuries, Russia has smeared his name, striving to make Ukrainians view their own history through the eyes of others, convincing our people that Mazepa was a traitor. This lie has failed. Forever. And today, we honor our own outstanding statesman and military leader, patron, and head of the Cossack State, Ivan Mazepa. It is important that we are doing this precisely here, in the Lavra, which truly flourished under his patronage – with its churches, bell towers, and its unique Ukrainian Baroque face.

And without doubt, a figure of this scale deserves a full-fledged monument in the capital of our state. I believe that there is an ideal location for it. It has been there since December 2013 on Shevchenko Boulevard, and I am certain that where Lenin fell, Mazepa will stand firm.

❗️ A Russian Orion strike drone appears to have crashed beside the highway leading out of Crimea near Kerch.

Russian tourists waiting at the Kerch Bridge checkpoint to leave Crimea from the Kerch side on June 26, 2026, filmed burning UAV wreckage in a field next to them. According to those at the scene, the drone was shot down directly overhead by air defenses.

Based on what is visible from this angle, the wreckage bears a resemblance to a Russian Orion strike UAV, although the available footage is not ideal.

But most likely, it was one of the Russian Orion drones based at the Kerch airfield that was either brought down by Russia's paranoid air defenses or decided to self-destruct, which, in the case of the Orion, is not uncommon, as these drones have a well documented tendency to crash during landing.
