“Si están leyendo esto es porque me trancaron.”

Así empieza la carta que dejó Kamil antes de que la dictadura fuera por él. No para victimizarse. Para dejar algo claro: no lo callan por delinquir, lo callan por pensar.

En su propia voz lo dice todo.
Que no robó.
Que no agredió.
Que no traficó.

Que su único “crimen” fue señalar lo evidente: las faltas, la ineficiencia, la humillación diaria y la opresión que aplasta a Cuba. Sin odio. Sin violencia. Solo con pensamiento crítico. Y eso, en una dictadura, es intolerable.

Kamil lo explica mejor que nadie: el poder le teme más a asumir sus errores que a arrastrar a un país entero al abismo. Por eso aprietan, censuran y reprimen. Porque cerrar bocas les resulta más fácil que corregir el desastre.

La parte más demoledora de su carta es esta:
callar a una persona no calla a un pueblo.
Una celda no apaga una conciencia colectiva que ya despertó.

Esta carta no es despedida. Es acusación.
Es prueba escrita de una detención arbitraria.
Es un recordatorio de que decir la verdad no debería costar la libertad.

Doctors are being arrested for saving lives.

In Iran, security forces are storming hospitals to finish off wounded protesters.
Now they’re storming doctors’ homes.

At least 40,000 people killed.
More than 300,000 injured.

Doctors who treated the wounded are being hunted.
•Dr. Alireza Golchini, a general surgeon in Qazvin, faces possible execution for posting an Instagram story offering free medical help.
•Dr. Ameneh Soleimani, a physician in Ardabil, was arrested for treating injured protesters.
•Dr. Farhad Nadali, an orthopedic surgeon in Gorgan, was abducted after condemning the killings.
•Dr. Saber Dehghan, a neurosurgeon in Sirjan, arrested for helping the wounded.
•Dr. Babak Pouramin, an emergency physician, has been detained for over a week.

Their crime?
Practicing medicine.

My rejection of the war on Gaza starts from a simple truth. It is utter madness to sacrifice myself only for my children to live after me as homeless, broken souls.

It is a disgrace to leave my wife behind, exposed and unprotected, prey to cruelty after my death.

A homeland is where the essentials of life exist, not where the causes of death are manufactured.

Belonging is a lie invented by politicians and those in power so that we may die for their sake.

I do not believe in the idea of dying for the homeland. The homeland never loses. We do.

When war befalls a country, they call only on the poor to defend it. When the war ends, they call on officials to divide the spoils and positions.

When war comes, it is the poor, honorable “heroes” whose chests are filled with bullets, while the bellies of officials and traitors are filled with money.

When a homeland is cursed with war, those who do not deserve to die are the ones who die, so that those who do not deserve life may continue living
