Man stole so much when he was in government years ago. Sent his children out of the country early and bought houses for them abroad. He bought a lot of properties in Nigeria too and lived way above his means as a civil servant, but who cares?
Baba retired, went to stay abroad, and age caught up with him. He is on wheelchair right now, and his children are selling off the "known" properties because they are not ready to relocate back to Nigeria or have anything to do with this place.
At his 80th birthday in January, his last born jokingly asked if he could still remember where other properties were located so they could sell it when he is still alive and he couldn't remember anything. They know he had more, but he couldn't remember.
When we left that birthday party, I asked myself, why will a man steal that much that will be useless for him at his old age? Death will come one day, and no amount of money or property will stop it from taking that life.
