The Spanish prime minister recently made headlines around the world after about 72,000 migrants swam or burst into Spain’s north African enclave Ceuta. By Aug 4, Spain estimated 70,000 of 72,000 who had crossed had returned to Morocco.

But the sight of tens of thousands of people streaming across Europe’s only land border with Africa prompted an extraordinary, critical response from 22 of the 27 European Union bloc members, who blamed Pedro Sánchez’s migration policy.

She has been banned from leaving the country and has to appear at a court every fifteen days before the trial.

Massive corruption scandal in Spain 🇪🇸 The Supreme Court has now convicted the attorney general for leaking secrets to damage the opposition. The socialist prime minister, Pedro Sánchez, has his wife and brother under investigation for influence-peddling and corruption. One minister is also indicted for hiring prostitutes as public advisers and other irregular acts. And the former number two of the Socialist Party has just been released on conditional freedom in a major corruption scheme with alleged stolen public money.

Many have asked me what I think of the Sumud Flotilla heading to Gaza. I have not commented on this because I genuinely believe it is a waste of time, effort, energy, space, and focus. Approaching Gaza with a predetermined outcome, in which you know the Israeli navy is going to intercept you, and yet persisting with said useless and futile action tells me you are the most unserious player who is simply trying to gain attention and make a point, not to make a difference. Everybody knows that Israel has a blockade on Gaza, including a naval component; you are not raising awareness about anything that the entire world doesn’t already know.

You cannot access Gaza’s territorial waters during wartime without coordination with the more powerful and controlling party, which in this case is Israel. In fact, the maritime corridor between Cyprus and Gaza that was activated last year proved that the coastal enclave could be open for business if Israel’s legitimate security needs are met. This created a precedent that, after two decades of Israeli control of territorial water with coordination and trusted third parties, you could indeed make something happen in Gaza, even though that particular corridor is no longer in action.

If you truly wanted to make a difference, you might have considered using the port of Ashdod to deliver aid into Gaza or collaborating with Egypt and the UAE to land aid via El-Arish port and transport it via trucks to the Strip. The realities of war and realpolitik are not vanishing for a group of selfie activists who have no clue about how the real world works. I wish we would stop hearing about Greta Thunberg and Western activists trying to make this endeavor about themselves instead of making a difference and engaging in radical pragmatism. I wish we would stop wasting time and resources that could have been better spent on actually sending a larger quantity of aid into Gaza to support Palestinians.

I wish this time and energy were allocated toward the grunt work that I, along with many of my colleagues, do behind the scenes to conduct evacuations of patients and their families, as well as humanitarian cases from Gaza into Middle Eastern or Western countries. May this be the last selfie-flotilla that we have to discuss, and may these activists start actually helping the Palestinian people of Gaza instead of wasting time on self-centered and self-absorbed actions and interventions.

Why is Spain’s Pedro Sanchez gunning to be the most anti Israel politician in Europe?

💥 It distracts from corruption and cronyism. His Socialist party is embroiled in numerous scandals. One of his closest allies is in JAIL for being the member of a criminal organisation. His own WIFE is on trial for embezzlement and his brother was handed a highly lucrative fake job

💥 It shores up his shaky coalition. His party’s approval rating has sunk to 26% . He needs to outmanoeuvre his leftwing coalition allies (similar to how Macron is trying to outflank Melenchon in France)

Interestingly Spain’s love of Palestinianism dates back to the dictator Franco who sought Arab allies to counter European isolationism

Combine that with the fact Spain has barely any Jews because they were all chased out in 1492.

Sanchez is just another corrupt, weak European politician using Israel as a punchbag to shore up his own political career.

Comisarios políticos del periodismo patrio llevan demasiado tiempo manipulando a la sociedad. Han impuesto en España un relato único en el que todo lo que se aparte de su dogma de fe es fascismo. Así, a cualquiera que no encaje en su catecismo —desde la vieja izquierda de toda la vida hasta la derecha más conservadora— lo marcan de “facha”. Según su discurso, en España no cabe un "facha" más.

Los conozco bien, y créanme, no ejercen el periodismo, lo han vaciado de contenido, dan lecciones, velan por esencias que imaginan en su cabeza. No informan, adoctrinan. No narran hechos, repiten consignas. Han convertido algunas redacciones en trincheras ideológicas y a varios medios en púlpitos donde sermonear. Han confundido la libertad de prensa con el monopolio de la palabra.

Pero la gente ya no es ingenua. La sociedad distingue cada vez más entre el reportero que cuenta lo que pasa y el predicador que dicta lo que debe pensarse. Empieza a estar harta de sermones y etiquetas. Y tarde o temprano quedará claro que quienes han vendido dogma como si fuera información han fracasado con estrépito.

El futuro no les pertenece. No será de los que dictan catecismos disfrazados de crónicas, ni de los que fabrican enemigos para justificar su existencia. Será de quienes informan con rigor, respeto y neutralidad. De quienes ofrecen hechos, no etiquetas; datos, no consignas. Con líneas editoriales diferentes, puntos de vista opuestos, pero con respeto y trato digno al adversario. El periodismo sobrevivirá, pero ellos quedarán retratados como lo que son: una nota al pie vergonzosa en la historia de la profesión.
