Every distance coach does an unofficial December Athlete Audit.
Not on paper.
Not in a spreadsheet.
Just in the back of your mind.
Because December is honest.
No races.
No adrenaline.
No crowds.
Just cold mornings, long runs, and a whole lot of routine.
And in that quiet stretch, kids show you exactly who they are:
Who stays consistent.
Who drifts.
Who grows.
Who coasts.
Who’s still hungry.
Who needs a reset.
January rewards the kids who handle December well.
And it exposes the ones who didn’t.
That’s the audit.
Not punishment — just pattern recognition.
I haven't tweeted in a minute, and I have absolutely nobody to tell this to... but this seemed like the perfect place.
I ran a triple today. That's one more run than a double FYI.
@coachcolwell1 @FBCoachBoyer I’m with Socrates on this one. I also hate luxury & after a long day at work, my servant ,er... son , better have my dinner ready!
I don’t mind so much if he doesn’t rise when I enter a room, but as god as my witness .... if he talks one more time during exercising , he’s done.
