Look at the Mets since they started in ‘62 and the giants “since the merger”: Giants 5 SBs, they are 5-0 in nfc champ and 4-1 in SB. Mets in 5 WS, are 5-3 in NLCS and 2-3 in WS. I’m aware of the giants success before merger but..

That was his long term goal. He used the mets to get what he really wanted. Now you see why mlb owners wanted no part of him!

@betsyffj agreed! They offered him an extension for like 6yrs at 158 million after 2023, which was a very competitive offer at that time. He rejected it. His leaving was a two-way street for sure, fault on both sides. Where Stearns failed was in not replacing his and Nimmo production
